Long time member here. Haven't posted in years. But here I am.
So I just purchased a 2016 f-150 xlt with the 5.0L motor. Was scared away from the eco due to horror stories. However, I'm back to get some advice.
So within the next week, I'd love to accomplish a CAI, programmer, and exhaust. Any suggestions? Was thinking either K&N or Roush CAI, didn't know on chip, and I LOVE my flow master 40 series muffler on my 01, but was considering magnaflow. Just looking for overall performance and fuel mileage. Ultimately I put 120-130 miles a day on my truck. So as you can imagine, a 16 year old truck with 211k on it, it's going to become a bigger money out at some point.
Anyway, those of you who recognize me, how's it been? Those of you who don't, nice to meet you and regardless of who ya are, thanks for the input.

I'd get on youtube and find as many sound bites as possible so you end up with one that sounds the way you want it to. Magnaflow and Flowmaster are both good setups which ever set up you end up choosing. Personally I'm a little partial to the Magnaflow.
Don't forget to give Livernois a look regarding a tuner. I can promise from 1st hand experience they are top notch from start to finish and well after the sale they'll still be there for support. It's my opinion there tune is the best one and they listen so you get exactly what you're after with your tune(s).
Congrats on the new Truck.

Picked it up yesterday. The thing drives like a freaking dream. I bought it in a neighboring town from where I work. On the drive home (about 60-70 miles) I averaged 26.7 mpg at 63 mph on highway and 75 on the interstate. It was 3/4 highway driving though.
Anyway, so the project list just keeps driving me bonkers/excited. It'll now include:
Tinted Windows
Flow master 40 series si/do
Fuel Hostage III 20in wheels
Courser AXT 285/55/r20 tires
2.5in leveling kit
SCT tuner
Barricade Raptor style grill w/LED
Soft shell tonneau cover
And then I'm not sure about headlights and tail lights
Quite a bit of dough. Probably about $4500-5000 worth of modifications. Looks like I'll have to sell my truck for around that. Idk if I'll do all of this right away. But wheels and tires are a must and then afterwards I can recoup some of that money by selling the current wheels and tires. And then I think exhaust, windows, and tuner are to follow. Here's some of the upgrades:

If you decide to go this route, when purchasing you need to discuss the FORD letters specifically with the seller. You can see how much better it looks with FORD instead of dodo.

New Truck!
Congratulations on the new ride.
As for the mods, GREAT! It's not YOURS until you mod it.
CAI & Exhaust(as others stated) is strictly for noise increase. You'll likely LOSE performance.
The only mod for the 5.0 is a supercharger(which I am considering). Figure 10K. Whipple (for top end) or Roush (for lower end peak). Ford dealers install the Roush and a 3/36 is available. Yep, that's a chuck of change, but you'll have the FASTED P/U in the county!
As for the different "tunes", my reading shows they don't do much, some even LOSE power. What they achieve is better shift patterns ... so-they-say.
We're obviously on different tracks, but FWIW
My mods:
Fox 2.0 rear shocks (must do)
Hellwig rear sway (OK)
ICON 2.5 front coils (must do)
BAK Revolver tonneau
Bed rug(to cover the spray-on crap)
LED reverse lights (3way switch; OFF/ON/REV)
Morimoto LED fogs (OK. pricey for the performance gain)
Side spots whenever mod
FORScan Software(must do)
>>turn off door chimes, turn off honk-honk, radio on w/out accessory,
>>Reverse tilt mirror(s), custom screen image(syn2 only)
>>and a bunch of other stuff.
2015 Larry, 5.0 3.73gears 502apack 36gal tank and a bunch of other stuff.
12K and running fine.
My CHIEF complaint is the suspension, which I've upgraded, but not quite done yet.(If you doubt me, go drive a Chev Silverado. I did and was amazed, especially at speed on the highway. It's just WAY more planted.) While the Foxes were cheap and are a HUGE improvement over stock, if I had it to do over, I'd go for the full ICON 2.5 setup. Don't worry, they're ANYTHING BUT harsh.
