Why can't she drive a truck? The F150 likely drives "smaller" than an Expedition due to its lighter weight.

My wife drives my Super Duty. She doesn't like it, but she can drive it. No reason your wife can't drive an F150. Take her to test drive one and she will probably take yours from you when you get it!

 

If my wife can drive my F-350 crew cab dually diesel with a newborn and 2 other kids screaming, i'm pretty sure his wife can drive an F-150...

 

It's more that she want a third row seating.
But the Expedition is actually 6-8k more than a F150.
A new 2017 Expy EL Limited is like 55k.

And the dealer is not wanting to give me more than 14.5k for my 2009 Lariat.

You can get any truck; the good deal depends on what rebates are available when you purchase it. might research when the best time for manufactures rebates/incentives is. Don't forget to negotiate down the doc fee that is always BS mark up.

Detail and sell your current f150 right now; it's tax season and this is when you will get the highest amount private party. A stx or better f150 4x4 holds it's value better than most expeditions.
