Sunroof Issue!

So I took the new truck through a touchless car wash that I have taken my 2011 platinum F150, 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2012 Jetta all which have a sunroof and I have never had an issue... Well the new truck leaked!!!

Has anyone else had an issue?

An online search finds forums for virtually every auto manufacturer abound with tales of water leaks when using a high-pressure automatic car wash, particularly on convertibles and vehicles with sunroofs.

Whether or not leaks are “supposed” to happen in “no touch” washes, the fact is: in real life, they do and, apparently, fairly often.

That's what sunroofs do.

Yea well I have owned multiple vehicles with sunroofs and have never had one leak.. So I think there is a problem with this one.

I would agree. You need to get it back to the dealer.

I'd bring this to the attention of your dealer, HessFx4; be sure to show the tech those pictures when you drop off your truck. What's the current mileage on it? I'll do what I can to help out as well.

The truck is at Grapevine Ford now, been there since Tuesday and they put me in a Nissan Versa kind of crappy but whatever.. The truck has 400something miles on it bought it 08/08/2015. Dealership told me they found nothing wrong with it and that it's because of the aluminum body.

Said something about that it might leak and that the gutters should take care of it however if it's too much water then this will happen.

The sunroof leaks because the truck is aluminum?

My greatest fear of getting into an american car is the shear amount of BS I'm going to have to endure from the dealerships.

Thanks for the fast reply, HessFx4; I want to escalate this to your regional customer service manager. To make that happen, PM me your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership. I'll do the rest.

Update on the sunroof leaking, I picked it up from the dealership with them saying there was nothing wrong...And my bumper being hit by something, and paint chipped off the frame of the sunroof. Here is a video of it from tonight from a water hose.

Clearly there is nothing wrong as long as you don't intend to drive your new truck in the rain, ever.

It would be normal, maybe, if your truck was 10 years old but since it is new it most definately is not. I have not seen or heard of anyone else with this issue.

What does Crystal at Ford Service have to say?

It might be time to try a different dealer, clearly the one you are using is not interested in fixing it.

Hi HessFx4,

I checked out your case and see that your CSM left a message for you on Monday and will be calling again on Friday. Be sure to update her on what's going on at the dealership so she can assist. If you're having difficulty getting in touch, let me know and I'll help out.
