Angry New f150 OBD code P2450

I purchased a 2015 F150 SC with 2.7l EcoB and at 120 miles (2nd day home) received a check engine light with a P2450 code (EVAP Switching Valve Stuck Open).

Dealer thought it was an electrical problem but gave up after hours of testing and told me that the part (switching valve) was on back order and would be about a month!

Sent me home with the truck saying it won't affect drivability and so far that is correct, loads of acceleration and 26.1 MPG on 90 mile highway trip and 22.4 overall after 255 miles.

It's just annoying to have to go back to dealer again and that bright yellow check engine light doesn't instill confidence nor is it selling the truck to family and friends! Frankly it's embarrassing, so I'm not driving it, it's just parked for now.....waiting.

Welcome to the forum, Turbo-trucker! I'd like to escalate your check engine light to the customer service manager (CSM) for your region; they'll look into the ordered part to see if they can speed up the process. To get started, sending me a private message (PM) with your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership. Leave the rest to me.

I wanted to provide an update on the resolution to my problem.

After providing information requested by Crystal @ Ford Service the part arrived the very next day (Wednesday)! It was installed this morning (Friday) and so far so good.

The drivability was never an issue and the MPG avg of 22.1 overall after the first 450 miles of about 60/40 highway to city driving is impressive when considering the power and acceleration provided by the 2.7L EcoBoost engine coupled with the 3.73 E-locking differential in my 2WD S/Cab.

I will be using this to tow our 16' lightweight fiberglass camper (2500 lbs) and will report on MPG after our first trip. One thing I'm certain of is there will be no issues pulling through mountainous areas. This little engine has the acceleration and power of a midsized V-8.....

Thanks Cyrstal for your help!

Hi bondtanner,

Tell me what's going on with your truck, including the model year and mileage. I'll see what I can do to assist!

2015 F150 Error Code P2450

Hi Crystal,

Any way you can help me with the same issue described above? My brand new 2015 F150 Sport is reporting the P2450 error code @ 500 miles. Very disappointed I'm going to have to deal with a service issue already, and I'm dreading having to leave my truck at the dealership for any number of days. I'm hoping you can help me get this resolved asap!

Do a thorough walk around your truck before you accept it back from the dealer. Scratches and dents can happen...

I'm getting the same code also. The part was ordered two weeks ago when I had the oil change. I had to call my dealer to find anything, they failed to do a follow up.

Were you able to arrange for a time to have the repair completed, SterlingFX4? What's your truck's model year and mileage? I'll do what I can to assist you as well.
