Removing the headrest on the "middle" front seat

Is this possible? I find the headrest on the front seat on the 2015's extremely obnoxious. My 2005 did not have this, and I like to put my arm up and rest it between my seat and the passenger seat. I can't do this with the dumb headrest there. No one is ever going to be sitting there anyway, so I want it gone!

I hope it comes out. That is where I mount my tablet in my '12.

Yes you can. I have had two 2013 models and I took them both out of the middle seat. I also took the back seat ones out, so I could see better out of the back glass. Very few passengers in the back.

This will work.

Or, you can lift up on it and then push in the button that's on the base of the headrest and just pull it out.

Center headrest removal

Did you find a way to remove the center seat headrest? I just bought a 2015 XLT with this intrusive headrest. The owners manual states: "Your vehicle may be equipped with a front center head restraint that you cannot adjust or remove." I find this hard to believe.

Greetings. Been away from this site awhile. Truck is 4 weeks old, and I just removed mine. Like Wookie states above. All you do is push the buttons on the head rest retainers/or "slides." Each slide has a button. Much easier to access the lower cup holders and Sync door. Now where did I put it and what to do with it?

this sucks

Dealer told me yesterday it wasn't removable. Seems like the plastic tray with the cup holders may allow access. But not sure how to get it off without breaking it. Has to be a way.

Anybody have any luck with this yet? I thought I could remove it, but looks like surgery is the only option.

They come out, just like and other head rest. There is a button to release as you would find on any vehicle. What I did notice is its hard to release. When I first got the truck the dealer was not able to do it, and I definitely had to fight it a bit.
