Sony Sound System

I test drove the new truck today and put the Sony sound system through its paces. I used the new Nickelback cd as my test music.
All I can say is it is the best sounding OEM radio that I have ever heard.
I cranked the bass and even with Daniel Adair's double kick drum it never clipped or destorted once.
I would highly recommend the system.
I am not sure how it works for dance music but am not worried about that because I never listen to it.

I drove an FX4 with the nav system as well. The only problem is the dealership that I drove it at wants to hold your hand for the whole test drive so I didn't wind it up.
The reverse camera with the Nav unit is slick. I just couldn't justify having to spend 5.3k to get the nav and reverse camera. Up here it has to be ordered with the Luxury package(3k) in addition to the nav radio(2.3k).

I'm tired of having the basic stereo in my XLT. With the cheap gas prices you can find, time saved with driving directions, and the nicer interior, the extra cost will be worth it I believe.

oh man, this sound system has me even more amped (no pun intended) for an 09. i want an FX4 in all black or white with the 700w sony system.

i would love to have the NAV, but not sure i can justify that additional $2 grr...

i drive 40k miles a year and 1) have my eye on a truck because i believe these bad boys can handle 200,000 miles and still run strong and 2)have never owned a truck and the ease of entry would be good for me and my bad back, plus the interior (in the FX4) is perfect to my liking

i have dreams of throwing on my ipod to some Dave Matthews Band and enjoy my ride....

but i will have to wait to find a used one.

they are ment to be the same audio package but i am trying hard to find out who makes the head unit for the nav. I did hear that it wernt sony who made it but its very hard to find any specs for it. But i have heard they both sound very very good.

For the price you pay just to get that added sony stereo, you could build an aftermarket system that will STOMP that sony stuff.

I was going to fit a clarion or pioneer double din but when i looked into it there wernt a system on the market at any price that could do what that system does. I was ready to spend over $5k. You would def be able to go louder and better sound quality but you will lose all the functions that make the sync what it is and more most people the factory nav and audio will be more than they need.

The Sony is only $700 up here. You would have trouble finding an aftermarket system that would perform as well.
The dashboard doesn't have anywhere to put an aftermarket system as well. I suspect it would be big bucks just modifying the dash.

I agree. It is the nav unit that costs the big bucks.

So that price doesnt even include the source unit? So you are paying 700 bucks for a couple pairs of sony speakers and a sony subwoofer?

No, the head unit is intergrated into the dash. It is not a stand alone unit though. You couldn't just remove it and replace it with something else.
