"The new 2009 Ford F-150 is the latest Ford vehicle to earn the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s “Top Safety Pick” award. With the award, Ford Motor Company, including Volvo, adds to its leading number of 16 IIHS “Top Safety Pick” ratings, further separating itself from Honda’s second place tally of 13. IIHS awarded the F-150 its highest rating for front and side impact tests and in evaluations of seats and head restraints.

Cischke added that Ford engineered the new F-150 to also earn top ratings in the U.S. government’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) tests to be conducted later this year. Ford has more IIHS Top Safety Picks and government five-star safety-rated vehicles than any other automaker."

Clearly you have no idea the 09 is a new truck and not a refresh for one! Plenty of threads on many forums discusing this and i also think there's one on here.

I think the only thing you listed there that the 04-08's don't have is advance trac/stability control.... oh, and 911
What's a personal safety system? A seat belt?
BTW, I like the 09, and I believe it's a whole new truck, although it looks very much like the previous body style. I used the term "refresh" because I knew it would stir you up.

The 08's dont have any of that. They are all new features of the 09 from the 09 safty improvement list. Yeah the refresh makes me bite as i have seen so many people say it's a refresh lol. Even though we have people like DBderek who builds them telling people they are all new.

The 04-08's don't have safety cages, or air bags and seat belts?
I believe you're mistaken. They have everything you listed, minus the stability control.... oh, and 911.
Correct me if I'm wrong, with proof, but I don't believe I am.
Edit --- It appears that the "safety cage" in the 04-08 gets a good rating from the insurance folks. Interesting considering they don't have a safety cage.

Tell ya what. you show me me a 08 what has all the features i have listed infact any of the features i have listed. they have none of the below from what every web site is telling me. even the ford site. Clearly you have a special 08 model with features no one else has.

Here's the difference:
The 2008 has the old air bags up front, and the old cab/cage with regular steel. No RSC. No side air bags. No TBC.
The 2009 has new front air bags and new side air bags. New cab/safety cage with high strenghth steel and it is 2 and half times stronger. Advance Trac. RSC. TBC.

Hey, don't get upset because the insurance institute clearly states the 04-08's are better/safer trucks. It's right there in black and white (well yellow for leg and foot in the 09).
All the categories are clearly indicated, including the "safety cage" !! Face it, if you did your research before making your purchase, instead of listening to some car salesman, you would have bought the much safer 08! LOL!
I just proved you were wrong about your statement that the 09 has so many more safety features than the 08. Don't shoot the messenger.
