09 F150 test drive

I got to test drive a black 09 xlt supercab,2wd yesterday. It was equipped with the 5.4v8,6 speed auto and 20 inch rim's. I'm not sure about the gearing though. Overall I was quite impressed with the makeover. The interior is greatly improved. It was nicer and quieter on the inside then my 04. The handling and smoothness was also improved although I didn't really get to go down any pothole infested roads. The head and taillight's look alot better in person than in the picture's also. The chrome trim around the taillight's doesn't look as bad either. It still doesn't look as good as the 04-08's in my opinion. The power does feel improved a little mainly because of the 6 speed tranny. From a dead idle it got to 90mph on a stretch of road that my 04 could only get up 85mph stock. The throttle lag hasn't improved any. I could put the pedal to the floor and it would seem to take a half a second just to get a reaction from the engine and another half second to downshift. A programmer is gonna be a good investment on this truck also. The engine is alot quieter now. While idleing I couldn't hear any kind of annoying noises like injector tick or the cam phaser's.

Could you use any more exclamation points? It really made reading that quite annoying.

Sorry about that. I was on the computer at work and the button for the period only work's when it want's too. It could have been worse though. I could have just typed everything without any punctuation. I'll edit my post since i'm at home now.

Nice to hear about them lessening the engine noise, hopefully they'll produce the EcoBoost as a very quiet engine also. The Triton V-8 in the '04's makes all kinds of racket, least of all that horrid whine. Good news, keep following that path FMC.

Yea my 04's engine is noisy as hell. So far though with almost 88,000 miles it's still running strong. Hopefully the rest of the engine's will be as quiet as the 09 F150's.

I have seen a couple and they really do look better than in the pic's. Like the FX4 but would like to see the King Ranch. On the power end, for those of us who want more, and the tuning sections proves a good many of us want MORE PERFORMANCE POWER, we will keep the Troyer's, VMP and PHP going with custom tuning. We have an 08 Edge Limited with the 6 speed trans and a custom 93 octane performance tune from Evolution Performance, throttle response is right on and what difference the 6 speed trans makes. 6500 rpm shifts and it only drops to 5000 during the shift so it keeps you well into the powerband, all I can say is what a difference the trans makes when it is tuned for performance.
