As an owner of an 04 needing a new ring and pinion setup for a bad rear, an 05 needing new drive shaft as well as clutch packs and an 06 that had 3 injectors go in a 6 months period, I would have welcomed a little tail gate issue I could fix myself.. ( had other mechanical issues with all of them but I'll spare you all )
And all these so called truck tests, how come each manufacturer has one and always biased in someones favor, you never see a comparably equipped line up in the face off..
With the 09, Ford has not earned my business for a 4th F150 .... yet... perhaps in 2010 if I can wait.
Capacity versus performance, we each have a preference and a need somewhere in between. Those who do not buy taking this into consideration end up spending a lot of time on some forum trying to make their truck into what they should have just bought right in the first place because we have a pretty good selection out there these days

The problems with the Turdra go well beyond the tailgate issue. The CR least reliable Turdra would be the last truck I would want. I have an '05 F-150 Heavy Duty and only a window switch broke which I fixed myself for $20.

Are we still ripping on the Tundra around here? Talk about beating a dead horse.
Anything is better than you ripping on the 2009 F-150 in here. His comment is relevant to the video, and the person who said they would rather have a Tundra with a little tailgate issue than his F-150. Cheers.

While I'm sorry that you've had problems, you're absolutely 110% incorrect that you don't see 'comparably equipped' vehicles during the testing.
Every manufacturer can 'spin' information to make it look advantageous to a perspective owner (that's what the marketing department does in any business) but, when you go on to an event and all of the competition is lined up there and the people who are there riding along with you are instructed to 'keep quiet' and let the driver of the vehicle draw their own conclusions.... well, that speaks volumes.
You'll NEVER get an apples to apples comparison with any manufacturer out there; there's simply too much variation from brand to brand. What they can attempt to do (and I understand Dodge attempted to do this at their 'Ride & Drive Event" recently) is put the competition's truck, as closely equipped to yours as you can and allow someone to judge for themselves. That's all you can do...
What I can tell you is that I am, somewhat, biased. I can also tell you that I haven't been without problems on my 2005 (injectors). What I *can* tell you is that the 2009 F-150, against comparably equipped Chevrolets, Dodges, and Toyotas won quite handily overall during the testing that I was allowed to conduct. Again, while I have a bit of bias, the testing proved out on its own, without some guy sitting in a seat next to me pushing information about how they were so much better down my throat. I drew my own conclusion... The 09' F wins, hands down.

I'm not the only person that's had negative things to say, but I guess I'm one of the few that has stayed vocal about it. My opinion is changing but I'm still not sold. I have to wonder just how much of the delay in releasing the '09 had to do with the market and fuel prices, and how much of it had to do with the negative feedback Ford was hearing about the design.
