Some answers to some ?'s reg new Nav

If your playing a DVD it will shut off as soon as you take the transmission out of Park. Even if your not moving. The Sirius Link features will not work with the touchscreen or Sync if your truck is moving. They work fine if your in D and not moving. In the past my experience has been that both systems would not work if your moving. So, if you have a passenger and you want to watch a DVD on a trip I guess you can ground out the wire that is connected to a switch that goes to the DVD that should be located at the Trans shifter. Now I will say that Im not sure how the 2009 models are wired up. If someone knows how I would love to know if it is different.

yeah sounds like they got a nice little system to try and override there. Looks like it's more complicated than just a wire as it works with certain things when your in drive and stoped and works with all things when you are in park.

The problem wit this system is the whole cars electronics are intergrated as part of the nav so that most functions can be controlled from it. Im guessing that it could def be sorted so that you have full function to the nav at all times but it will more than likley be either a software patch of somekind or a module you have to put in line somewhere.

Might be worth posting this on a forum with ford mechanics as they more than likely have a detailed repair book that shows the wireing diagrams.

Im more than likley gonna try to sort mine so that the functions can be used when ya like.

Question

As long as you can yell out new directions to the NAV at any time to change directions, that's what is the most useful.
