God help me, I think I'm starting to like the '09 F150

Now that they're FINALLY making it to the dealers, I've had a chance to at least look at a couple in living color. I haven't had a chance to sit in or drive one yet but they are starting to grow on me. Although I'm still not a fan of the models that have the big chrome grill which leaves out the XLT, Lariat and Platinum. I much prefer the look of the models that have the grills with the body color surround and blacked out bars.

I looked at two FX4 models, one was just a "basic" FX4 and the other had the FX4 luxury package, which actually is a nicely equipped truck that's about on par with the Lariat. Still not a fan of the interior, but I need to sit in it to give a fair opinion. When I get a chance I plan to see about test driving it, who knows, maybe I'll be making some room in my garage for one.

Where's Freeky?

I haven't yet seen one in person, but RP's writeup sure makes a solid case for me to see how solid a truck it is.

I could do without the god awful badging on the rear quarters for various models (the stupid blocky 4x4 badges, the ones for the STXs or FX4s).

So far, I just can't handle the grill and tail lights. I do like the 6 speed! Maybe it will grow on me too, but it has a long way to go.

RP's writeup has me interested in driving one to really see how improved it is too.

BTW, best part was RP overheating the FX4 in the mud.

you could always swap grills if don't like the big chrome grills but still want to buy a Lariat or whatever, swap it with the body colored one.

Drive one, then maybe it won't have such a long way to go...

One good thing about the grill and tail lights, you can't see them when you are driving it

But, I know they're there! I could live with the grill even though I don't care for it, but the tail lights, they are just stupid looking to me. It's the way they wrap around on the sides.

I kinda like it too. my only problem is the radio... from the pictures I have seen, the basic radio is part of the dash now. I always get the basic audio package because I like to put my own stuff in.

You may be very suprised by the 700W system that comes with the audiophile. I know I love my 07 audiophile.. the 09 is even better.

I got a chance to see a new FX4 in Tulsa this past week. I was suprised how low the front end looked for a 4x4 and I agree that the FX4 decals and tailight trim leave a lot to be desired. The interior looked pretty nice and the added 6 inches of room is great. Also the front headlights look like they came off an '89 F-150 "too flat". Rear step and pole to assist getting into bed of truck would be better suited for a "Midget Pole Dancer"! I guess getting used to the look's for me would help before I go out and buy one. Just my 2 cent's.
