I agree! Sometimes as a Company you have to say screw it! Be inovative, & lead the way! I'm sure they would sell!...........
I think if Ford were in better financial shape, they would already be rolling on all kinds of innovative things. When you don't have any money and your credit is tapped out, you have to prioritize - and their priority right now is keep the existing lines running. You can't make any money with no vehicles to sell.

Ford could of had a diesel years ago in the f150. Look at the lcf commercial truck ford has. Its only a v-6, 4.4 diesel, if i recall. With the way diesel prices are now, alot of diesels are just sitting on dealer lots. The new diesel is ready, they are just waiting to see what happens with the market, times are tuff.
I am sure that Ford realizes that buyers who want a diesel in an F150 are a niche market and that anyone who really wants or needs the capability of a diesel will simply buy a Super Duty anyway.
I agree with SOFL WILL. I will have to sadly buy a chevy if Ford thinks that ecoboost is the answer. A diesel half ton would be my dream truck. I would rather have a 5.4 than an ecoboost with a lil more power. If i wanted a ricer motor i would buy a toyota.
Ford is between a rock and hardspot these days. As mentioned already, Ford has little money and available credit, they are just trying to keep things humming and hoping for better times.
Ford like GM and Chrysler have been very slow to react to changes in the economy. But to be fair, it is so bad for the whole auto industry right now that even Toyota is having issues. Though they are operating in the black while the big 2.5 are deep in the red.
Ford dropped a big chunk of change just getting the 09 F-150 done. If they had the assets, you'd better believe they would be busting their humps to get smaller trucks ready - like a major redo on the Ranger or the new F-100. It doesn't look like either is in the cards for a while.
Right now, Ford has to build Focuses and Fusions as fast as they can - that's about all that's selling. The dealer here is holding out for full MSRP on them.
