How much life left?

How much life left?
I have a 2010, 5.4L w/ 205000 Km. I drive quite a bit with my job now and wondering what I can realistically get out of it before seeing substantial service bills. I am the original owner and have always done have done the recommended service on the vehicle. It currently appears to run well. Only complaint at the moment is my windshield wipers are moving VERY slow but I'm sure I can figure that out and fix it. Should I consider dumping it now and getting new or drive it a while longer. I would expect to have 250000 Km by the end of the year.
Thanks in advance for your input.

There is absolutely no way to tell. I've heard of 5.4 3 valves running over 300k miles, I've also seen them take a dump with less than 100k miles on them. Keep the oil and filter changed religiously - 5w20 and a Motorcraft filter. When the phasers start making noise, then think about getting rid of it.

Well, I know this ain't a 5.4, but, I had a '94 T'bird with the 4.6 in her. I bought it from the son of the original owners brother. His dad was a certified Ford mechanic, or so I was told. Any way, I bought the car in Oct. of 2002 with a 149,000 miles on her. I had her up until Jan. of last year (2015). I sold her with about 235,000 miles on her. I loved that car, but I had three vehicles to insure and it was the one I had to let go. I've heard that these modular motors (most that is) go on forever as long as they are maintained well. Mine never smoked, rattled, puffed, wheezed, whined, cried........

I traded my 2005 in with 155,000 (250km) on it and it ran great. The cam phasers made a little bit of noise but that's it. I'm sure it had a lot of life left in it. The 5.4 can go a long time if a good oil and filter are used. If you're curious I would do a compression check on the motor. That will give you a pretty good idea about what shape it's in.

I sold my 2010 F150 5.4 with 225,000km on it and it ran really, really well. Dead quite and tons of power. It had mostly Hwy miles. The way it was running and the shape it was in, I wouldn't be surprised if it had another 250k on it.
I only sold it because the Wife gave me permission to go and get a new one.

Yep, it's almost always cheaper to keep what you have. What you may want to do is an entirely different situation. We can usually rationalize doing what we really want to do!
The average commercial airplane is about 25 yrs old. The airlines replace engines and whatever else is needed to keep them reliable and safe, AND then sell them to Southwest!!!

When I was young (and dumb) I would trade off my pickups all the time. Now that I know better I don't even want to look at the amount of money I lost between deprecation and loan interest.
I bought my 2009 FX4 new and had a plan from the start. I went overboard with the luxuries with this one but wanted to make sure I never got that "want" feeling again. Now 7 years later and I still love my truck and plan on keeping it for a very long time.
I also kind of like the challenge - taking a new truck and maintaining it as best as I can to see how long I can make it last.

I bought a new 2000 F150XLT5.4Scab4x4 with plans to keep it forever. It had 105k miles on it in 2005 when I overreacted when gas went to over $4/gallon and sold it to a friend. I regretted selling it. In 2009, I found my current 2002 F150LariatScab4x4 with 69k miles on it. The guy selling had lost his job and advertised it cheap. Now it has 135k miles on it and I have no plans to ever sell it. I'm retired and I only drive it about 3k miles/yr.

I had a 2010 f250 5.4 at work. Traded it in with 256,000 on it and was running like new when i did. The only thing I had an issue with was a leaking exhaust maifold. This truck was constantly towing all sorts of trailers.Hell even had the original battery. The key is I was fanatical about routine maintenance.
