Positive or negative offset on leveled F150.

Well, after many hours of research, I have concluded that 35in tires will fit my truck and with that, I am upgrading to larger rims. I just read all of Davids build post for his F150 http://www.f150forum.com/f78/my-plat...-build-202641/ and I fell in love with that truck.

I love the look of the red on silver and want to match that to my truck. Now, with these rims (http://www.autoanything.com/wheels-r...-jester-wheels), I can go either 12 or -12 on the offset. To my knowledge, the negative offset pokes the tire out farther correct? Well I love the look he got with the -12 offset but im worried about the trimming. How much is required for this? I know for the positive offset it is minimal, but im not sure about the negative.

Would this just require some plastic trimming or would an angle grinder be needed?

It's really going to depend on what year or generation of truck you have. If the one in the pics were an 04-08 you would have to do allot of trimming and they would still probably rub at full lock. The later models you will probably just trim the front plastic valence a little.

I have a 2011 F150 XLT Screw 4x4. Well I look on different websites, some say minor plastic trimming and some say metal.

Yes -the negative offset pushes the wheel out further. You are talking about 1" between the -12 and +12. Mine are +20 and you can see they are further in than David's

I had to do minor trimming but just of the plastic. I think you will have more trouble with the height, but the negative offset should help.

Yea, I love the wide look but I guess its not possible without metal trimming. So the +12 will be a little farther out then yours. What do you mean by "the negative offset should help"

Keep in mind, extensive negative offset can potentially cause increased steering wheel kick-back, place additional stresses on the vehicle's entire suspension, and cause premature wheel bearing failure.

I don't think it will help. It will probably result in trimming metal instead of plastic.

Yea, I think I'm just going to go with the 12 millimeter offset instead of the negative 12. It will still allow the tires to poke out a little bit, but without the risk of trimming metal i think.
