35's fitment on leveled F150

So, I know this has probably been asked 1000 times, but I gotta ask.

I was told that 35's would my 2011 F150 with a 2in level kit. Well, I went to a tire shop yesterday to get some prices and was told that Nitto 35 12 R20 wouldnt fit. They also said that 35 12 r18 wouldnt either and I would have to go with some 295 sized tires.

Well, a friend of mine has the same year truck as mine with a level kit and runs Nitto 35 12 R20's fine. So, I look to yall now.

Im not sure whether I want to run 18in rims or 20in, but as a general statement, will 35's fit? I love the look of the 35 12 R20 cause they would sit proud of the truck. Im not sure how the R18s would be since they were considerably thinner.

LT305x55x20 Nitto Terras.

I ran these Nitto Terragrapplers on my '11 Lariat 4x4 with a 2 inch level. I had enough room for 35's but the width 12.6 inches on the stock wheels is what makes it close on the inside to the upper control arm. No rubbing but just real close even with all terrain tires. The factory 20's have deeper backspacing then the 18's so a factory 18 may be a better choice to run wide tires. I'd go with the BFG KO2 in a 285x65x20 34.5x11.5 for a little more room and a little less weight. Son in law has this size on his F-250 and they really look good...just a thought.

Yea, see all these numbers confuse me. I get like 35/12.50/18 measurements, but the middle number confuses me and the metric is totally foreign. Like why did a 35/12.50/20 look wider then a 35/12.50/18? Shouldnt they be the same?

So would like 35/12.50/R18 fit my truck? Also, what would that tire in the metric system be?

They should be the same but each manufacturer makes their tires to what their mold calls for. Some 12.5 tires may be 12.3 or 12.6 same with the height. I had 315x70x17 tires on my '04 Lariat and used a 35x12.5x17 spare that was real close in size. Mud terrain tires have larger side lugs than all terrain tires do so a 12.5 wide MT will be harder to fit then a 12.5 AT. The best thing to do is look at the tire manufacturers web site and look at sizes and specifications for whatever tire you want. Sometimes trying to get the largest tire to fit may cause more problems then what its worth so a little smaller tire may be the best option.

315x70x17 BFG AT's

Heres my '04 Lariat with 315x70x17 BFG's on 17x9 wheels...had some rubbing even after trimming so I went with close to stock spec wheels to cure the problem. Stock wheels or ones with close to the stock specs are usually the best to run 35x12.5 tires on a leveled 4x4.

The difference is minimal either way. I have 295/60/R20 Nittos and they are 34"x11.6".

Use a size calculator to play around and see the differences. Here are a couple:

Well, after doing some research, they should fit. So Im gonna go against what the tire guy said. I have another question, are these rims close to stock rims? http://www.autoanything.com/wheels-r...-jester-wheels

I could be wrong but I think the stock wheels are:

18x7.5; +42-44 offset; 6" backspace
20x8.5; +42-44 offset; 6" backspace

I got wheels that are 20x9; +20; 5.75 and they are fine.

Why not? Here's a link to another forum that has a thread on this. Looks like they will work:

PERFECT! I just need to remember to get a positive offset.
