Looking at Buying F-150

Hey guys, brand new to the forum!
I've been looking at getting a truck for the past month and a half and found one I really like last night. While nothing is set in stone, I wanna get some of your personal thoughts and suggestions!

Truck I'm looking at is:
- 2013 SuperCrew 5.0 F-150 5 1/2 Ft. XL
- 33,000 miles
- 4x4
- Tow Package
- Really pretty ruby red

I'll be using this to haul a 2-horse trailer. Rarely will it be a far drive, usually 5-6 miles away. Nothing crazy. I live in Vegas so we don't have any crazy hills or anything.

I'm coming from a Camaro to this, so it's definitely a huge transition lol.
Test drove the truck yesterday and my heart is really set on it.

If I get it, I'd be planning on adding a 2.5" leveling kit and 33" tires.
Speaking of tires, there's a little bit of tread left on the tire itself.. I wanna say enough for a year, though with hauling horses, I'd want to upgrade sooner than later.

The truck also has little nicks here and there on the paint. Very small, but you can tell was probably used to work a little. No big deal.

They want $29,998 for the truck, obviously negotiable.
I'm thinking with the little nicks and tires need to be replaced soon, what kind of deal do you think I can work them down to due to those cons?

Here's a picture of the beauty. I'm a fan of Matte Black rims and a solid neutral color. But my fiancé and I saw this and fell in love. I love the chrome!

You won't have any trouble towing a 2 horse trailer with it. Price is a bit high, but I guess that's where they figure they want to start the negotiations?

Got my brand new 13 F150 below in my sig for $33k a year ago. It had 34 miles on it..

Hit them with a low ball offer and see where they take it. All they will do is counter back and it goes from there. It's worth whatever you are willing to pay for it..

Good luck!

Pretty truck but bring them down atleast 5 or 6k.. With all the incentives with the 14s you can probably get a new 14 for around their asking price..

Did a quick search here in Texas and found several 5.0 supercrew 2wd same color as your looking at for 27 to 28800.. They were 2wd's though so figure adding maybe another 3k for 4x4.. That would put you around the 31k mark.

Nice truck, just put it into perspective: I got mine about a month ago, 2013, 5.0, 157" WB, Lux pkg, moon roof, FX4, 16k miles, 35.5K OTD. had good tread and not a single scratch or nick. I hope it helps, I think you can get them down a lot more. It's an XL not XLT? Just seems very expensive to me. I'd give them a bottom, OTD price offer and see where it goes. I need to do more research on it but I'd say, $27k OTD--Which is similar to what the others are saying.

So the website and dealer say its an XL (this truck is at a Chevrolet dealership)

Now I check the carfax, which is squeeky clean, and it says:
- Model: F150 FX4 / King Ranch / Lariat / Platinum / XL / XLT

I know this truck has some nice and not normal features, from what I think.
Cloth seats, you'd think its a basic truck. Though its got backup sensors, backup camera on the rear view mirror, and even a little tiny screen where the radio is.

Not sure what this truck exactly is..

Also, $27,500 is the most I'd pay for this truck OTD.

I was thinking I can really lowball and start off with $25,000 for negotiations.

If you can get the VIN, you can get the actual window sticker for it.. Just search for "VIN window sticker ford" and pick one and enter the VIN and it'll show you a pdf of the actual window sticker and show it's original MSRP.

Mine showed it at $43k! Got the deal down to $33k with all the rebates and all.. I have to pay sales tax and title/license and other BS, so it was $38k OTD...

If that is an XLT with all that stuff on it and you can get it for under $25k OTD, that's not a bad deal.

Good luck!

Just look at the badge on the front fenders ....

You'll also want to know the final drive ratio - if it's 3.31, look fer another truck, because that's a lousy towing ratio fer a 5.sl0h...

Its a XLT with the 302a package, which has the reverse sensors, backup camera, 4.2 inch radio, brake controller, sliding rear window and maybe a couple more options

Except - as good ol' Mitch indicated, it's a dumbayss Chebbie dealership. So to them, 'XL' stands fer 'Xtra Luxurious' and charge ye a premium

Which also means - they prolly put Dexcool in the rad, Dexron III in the trans, and AC Delco 20w-50 oil in the engine - wif a Fram filter.

good luck
