2014 STX SCAB build w/pics

I finally got around to trading in my 2008 STX Regular Cab. I got a 2014 STX in Tuxedo Black but its a SuperCab. I will get better pics tomorrow when its light outside. I got the STX because I like the color matched bumpers and I can't afford an FX2 or FX4. I have plans for some mods but nothing over the top I think.

I REALLY wanted the color matched stuff, basically the looks of the FX4 but not the price, but wanted more options than the STX offered, or at least that I could find. Got a great deal on the XLT so I'll deal with the chrome.

Yeah I found an FX4 and FX2 that I really wanted but they really wanted me to pay for them lol. This one atleast came with a knock off Line-X style bed-liner. I don't care for Chrome but I admit these running boards are really growing on me. I am contemplating chrome and black wheels now, but not aluminum like those Boss 330's on the 08. Those were a pain to keep clean.

My short term plans are a cold air intake, exhaust, wheels and tires, FX4 heads and tails, HID Retrofit, logo overlays, new grill, Ground Control rear lowering shackles, painted skull caps, remove the STX decal, and a tint over. I have a guy here who will tint over the existing tint to make it really dark which is what I want. I will have him do the brow of the windshield too. Then I will start entertaining major upgrades but those will likely be a year or so down the road.

I got a couple new pics. I was in a hurry to go driving around and messed 2 pics up with sun glare but I will get better ones soon. I love the Tuxedo Black!

Blue truck looks awesome! It's funny I love the FX4s, but for some odd reason I don't care for the darker looking headlights that come on some of the 13' and 14' models, whereas yours look good. Breaks the truck up a bit vs it being one black front end with the grille and all.

Depending on the grille and wheels I get I might leave the headlights chrome. But, if my past is any indication of my direction, it will likely end up blacked out. I know I need brighter lights. I already have trouble in the dark with halogens (with headlights and fogs on) and I think my days of drop in HID's are gone. I am trying to find the HID retrofit thread that shows how to do them and what parts I need.

I am also trying to find out how hard it would be to paint the skull caps of the mirrors and add the turn signal indicators to them since they seem to have plastic placeholders where the indicators go.

Skull caps are easy to pop right off and can get sanded and painted.

They make a hand full of aftermarket options for mirror signals as well

I did my handles and mirrors all at once

Do the skulls come off the same way they did on the 08's? Did you write up a how to on the paint process like what to use and how much to sand? I was going to do my 08 but never got around to it. I would want to use paint that matches the Tuxedo Black but I have no clue where to get it.
