2011 Dome/Courtesy light issue
2011 super crew f150 lariat. We just bought this truck.
The courtesy lights and dome lights will not come on when opening the doors or using they key pad.
They will work when manually clicking the front courtesy lights or putting the rear dome light switch to the left.
The dimmer switch does nothing in regards to courtesy lights like the manual states it should. It does dim/brighten the gauges though.
The truck chimes when you open the door so I know the door switch works.
Any suggestions?

Prior to 2011 (when the dimmer switch was a roller rather than a rocker), dark mode was accomplished by turning the switch all the way to the left and beyond a slight detent. With the into' of the rocker in 2011 dark mode is not possible (feature I guess).
I want this mod', but alas the research todate (other forum posts, dealership service department, etc.) indicates that it's not feasible. So ...
-IF- you find-out how it was done, please share.
NOTE: There is a 3way, sliding switch for the rear dome lights. Sounds as if it's in the right position (manually turned-off).

We are the 2nd owner. I have tried all 3 positions for rear dome light.( As the manual states).
Position1 (far left) light is always one... this works.
Position 2 (middle) the light should come on when door is opened .... this does not work
Position 3 (far right) always off... naturally this works.
It is very annoying to me to get into a dark car at night
I wonder if someone cut a wire somewhere?

Are you the 1st owner of the vehicle? If not, it sounds like a previous owner found-out how to make a mod' and enable a psuedo dark mode (which is SOP on 2011+ law enforcement F-150 platform vehicles).

You can't open the door without them coming on?? Bed light too???
That will be a real popular feature at drive-in movies for the people parked behind you, heh??

My dealer enabled the "police dark mode" on my 2011 Scab XLT 4x4 at my request. Charged me 15 bucks to do it. It's just a setting change in the ECM.

Will be (re)visiting my local, friendly dealership service to (again) get it done.
*Though my thought was that it may/would be a BCM -or- LCM change.

I do not understand why anyone would not want the interior lights to come on when you open the doors. Makes getting something out of a lifted truck a pain in the *** at night lol.

Is it really called "Police Dark Mode"? And is it like the older style and you hold left to enable it or is it always dark?
