I have a 2010 F150 that had the integrated step in the tailgate. To release the step there is a handle/latch on top of the tailgate apx. 18" in length covered with a piece of black trim just like the rest of the tailgate on both sides. I cracked the trim when removing an item from the bed and wondered if anyone has replaced this item or has any knowledge of replacement. It is a poorly design by Ford as the cover can easily be damaged from something above coming down. The cost for the trim is $200.00 at the dealer and I do not understand why a piece of plastic is priced at that amount unless I am missing something. Thanks.

 

Find a junk yard and get one there.

 

birddog gave you good advice. The reason they price it that high is because they can. Other than a junkyard, you have no choice but to get it from them and they know that. Good luck.

I've still got my plastic off mine from when I removed it. You can have for $50. I was gonna toss it.

Did you find a source for the broken plastic covering the tailgate step?
I broke mine with the quad and have been looking to replace it too. Kelly Ford wants to replace the whole thing .
