2010 f150 XL i just did the mirror thing also.. but when i put the heat /ac control in.. (disconect positve cable before plugging back up..this also reset's your computer) my ext temp popped up on the display..it stayed at 50 degree's so i knew it wasnt working.. i dont have the wiring to connect to the sensor.. or the sensor.. found the connector with wire from ford parts giant wpt433 17.54 and the sensor AE5Z-12A647-A 30.66 my thinking is.. it all has to do with your heat/ac control module.. i got mine on ebay and lucked out on getting 1 with the outside temp... maybe on different model's this feature dosnt come on some module's...

Thank's for the headlight trick

[QUOTE=cacher33;4321939]My STX didn't come with auto headlights or outside air temperature. I just got done replacing my headlight switch and putting in the autolamp sensor so I would have auto headlights. That works great. Installed the Ambient Temperature Sensor thinking that i would have the temperature read out in the cab. Well its doesn't work. Anyone know if this is even possible to do?

Thanks[/QUOTE doing the Ambient sensor thing right now... Thank's for the headlight trick

I'm not all that happy with my new 2010 F150 FX4. It has the outside temperature which is displayed on the center console. The prob it only works if you are moving. I have no idea where the senser is but when you stop it will not change temp readings until you start moving again... Dont know if that is normal or not - never asked the dealer if that was normal.....

Can you share the part number on your heat/AC controller? With a little more research, maybe the mystery will be solved.

SQUIRL - Thanks, Ill give that a try - Now that I know where it is located Ill take a look at it. Might be a dead bird behind it or something haha... I almost missed the TEMP READING display - Very small up in the right upper corner of the very large dash console...

There was mention on how the temperature sensor works on the 2010 somewhere in this forum. It's a complicated process that takes into consideration the warmth of the engine while the truck sits idle. It's works that way for a reason.
