Tallest/widest tire on stock 20" Platinum 4x4 wheel?
What's the "biggest" tire (tall & wide) that will work with stock 20" Platinum 4x4 wheels, with or without a leveling kit (no true lift kit)? 95% street use, 5% off-road so rubbing at full lock (parking spaces) is more of a concern that at full suspension compression (big mud hole)...
I was running 285-something BFG's on the 07 Silverado Z71 crew cab I traded in and figured I should be able to at least use those. I'd pefer a 305+, but have no idea what profile to work with. The online tire configurators I found either don't have the 09 4x4 or don't have the 09 year at all so they've been no help.
From what I've read here, I think I could get 33's and/or 35's with a 2" leveling kit, which I'm ok with doing. Problem is I can't tell if that's with stock wheels or not (and I'm still learning xxx/xx/xx = 33"x12.50 type math). I've read several threads on backspacing, but since the household CFO won't pop for wheels, I'm stuck with just new rubber for now...
Thanks folks!

i have a 2" level on my 09 4X4 KR with the 20" stock rims. i have 285/65/20 which calculates out to 34.6X11.5 abd have zero rubbing issues. it is essentially a 35X11.5 tire. i was told by 4WP when i hat the install that 35's would not fit (perhaps the 12.5 wide) but i think it probably would have been fine looking now.

Your issue is going to show up first on the inner sidewall. If you take a look, there is limited room to go wider without getting into the steering knuckle. It also depends on what brand and type of tire you want to run. My TOYO's for example have a big side lug and would likely rub, an AT or a tire with a less aggressive side lug might work OK.
AGDoctor was one of the first to install larger tires on the stock wheels and you know they will fit, from there it is probably a little trial and error to max out the size.

If you want to save some $$ the 275/65R20's like comes stock on the Superduty is about 34.5". I put them on my 06 before I traded it in so I didn't have to put the expensive ones back on it. I have been thinking about putting them on mine till I get my lift and wheels and tires. Nitto and goodyear both make that size. The goodyears are cheaper and seem to wear pretty well, but are not very aggressive. I have put them on a couple of customers f150s on stock wheels and no leveling kit. It looks alot better than the little stock tires.

For the record, 285/65/20 BFG TA/KO's will work on the OEM 20" wheels (4x4 Platinum) without a level/lift kit. It's real, real close however. I feel ok driving it for a week or so, being very, very careful at and/or close to full lock, but I wouldn't do so forever. I do have a AS 2.5" and 3" rear kit sitting in the garage for when I have a free day...
Here's how close the front driver-side tire gets at the worst turned each way:
