2013 Ram

http://www.allpar.com/model/ram/2013-ram.html

http://www.motortrend.com/auto_shows...00_first_look/

The new Ram has been announced and has a ton of new technology

-8 spd trans
-Air bag suspension for leveling
-keyless entry and start
-Start an Go engine (shuts off at stoplights)
-Electric steering
-keyless tailgate integrated with door locks
-Grill shutter
-Led lights
-new v6, new chassis

and to much more to list.

My question is what will Ford respond with and how soon?

I agree the front end is not that appealing but everything else is very tempting. Im curious to see what the mpg's will be with the new tranny.

I really really like those new Rams. More than the Ford in a lot of cases.

This was at the end of the page

Quote:
A Cummins V8 diesel was listed on dealer systems for a time. We saw this as a late-availability, military-only option; this engine generates 250 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque. The quiet, high-revving engine (redline is over 5,000 rpm) is said to get highway gas mileage in the mid-20s in half-ton trucks. A hybrid powertrain also showed on dealer systems, but this might be for the PHEV test truck fleet. Neither of these appeared in the launch, but we suspect that the Cummins V8 will show up late in 2013, possible for the 2014 model year.

They had enough trouble keeping 4 gears in their transmissions, how are they going to keep 8 functioning correctly?

I am not too keen on the looks of the new rams, but my first truck was a 99 ram that served me well for many years. It's great to see the other auto manufacturers making strides with technology, this will only further push the other two even more and vise-versa.

I loved my 2010 Ram and will say it was a SOLID truck! It turned heads everywhere I went and the power was amazing. The 2013 interior looks amazing and the new features are pretty cool. Unfortunately, with Dodge you'll pay $40k+ for a truck that will be worthless in value 3 years later!

-8 speed trans - pickuptrucks.com says the 2013 will go into production in the first quarter of 2013 and the 8 speed will be late availability. So one will not be able to obtain one for over a year. GM will have time to respond and then Ford.

-E steering - Ford already has.

-Led lights - Ford's 2013 with led lights will be out first.

-Grill shutter - rumored for 2013 F-150.

-New V6 - Ford's new V6 has 3 less hp but more torque. Ram may have better fuel econ.

I'll be checking out the new Ram at the New York Auto Show on Tuesday. I can't wait to see it and some new Fords.

Dodge is finally making HUGE steps in repairing a terrible reputation, but it's going to take me a while before i would consider one.

Well, I enjoyed my '09 Ram with the Hemi and would take that new 395 HP Hemi any day. Best riding truck I ever owned too. The only thing I didn't like as much was the huge chrome front end but you can order a colored matched Sport package.

With the new features that the '13 Ram has, Ford has some catching up to do. But in the end, still prefer the new Fords over the Dodges and no regrets coming back to the F150.
