Fuel pressure drops to 0 after 10 min. on shut down

My fuel pressure drops to 0 after shut down. On restart injectors tap loud for 30 sec. Is there a pressure valve that holds the fuel pressure after shutdown ?

Yeah, there's a check valve built into the fuel pump assembly.

You sure that it's the injectors that are tapping? I'd suspect the lifters, what brand oil filter are you using?

I have a stethoscope and it is the fuel injectors not the lash adjuster. after the pressure drops they tick for about 30 sec. I thought it might be the lash adjusters at first too. I use Mobil 1 .

Couldn't you have turned on the ignition for a few seconds before starting to allow the pressure to build before starting?

I tried that at first but it was a pain for my wife. I thought it was better just to change it (with 100,000 miles)

Thanks to all.

With 100k and 9 years, I'd check the FPDM for corrosion.
