Old Truck Dead... New Truck Project! ('08 F150 Lariat)

Hi guys, you may know me from this thread here (https://www.f150online.com/forums/20...ad-04-fx4.html).

Long story short, truck did not reverse. Purchased a rebuild kit from Oregon Performance Transmission (Do not buy these as they are inferior quality. I have talked with many people and they all agree). Transmission stopped working after 1 month, so I decided to scrap it.

Fast forward to today, purchased another work in progress.

Black 2008 Ford F150 Lariat Supercab 4x4.

Has the following issues
- Possibly a busted catalytic converter (No catalytic converters upon further study).
- Possibly a faulty ABS module (Replaced Rear wheel speed sensor wiring harness)
- Transmission is slipping (Replaced with rebuilt transmission)
- Misfires at idle, perfect upon acceleration. (Oil pressure loss from timing chain tensioners. Replaced.)
- Backup camera has blue screen (Wiring harness as well as trailer harness broken wire repair)
- Driver's seat tear. (Replace seat)
- Dents on tailgate (Replace tailgate)
- Tailgate handle works sometimes. (Due to bent tailgate - not latching properly - Replace Tailgate)
- Possible exhaust manifold leak (Replaced driver and passenger exhaust manifolds)
- Definite exhaust leak somewhere. (Muffler baffles broken)
- A/C requires recharge. (A/C hose was disconnected from previous owner)
- 3rd Gear Slipping (Replaced with rebuilt transmission)
- Clunking Transmission (Replaced with rebuilt transmission)

The Positives
- Leather seats - So much more comfortable
- Heated seats (Works!)
- Interior in decent shape
- 4 years newer
- Satellite Radio and Aux built-in
- Automatic climate
- Can swap over existing parts.
- Suspension is extremely smooth
- Running boards

Upcoming To-Dos for the truck:
- Replace driver-side seat
- Replace Tailgate Handle
- Install pocket style fender flares
- Wheel Alignment
- Replace Windshield

So you scrapped a truck that needed a trans, and bought a truck that needs a trans, engine, and interior?

Good luck!

The truck was written off due to hail damage. Picked this one up instead.

Also, I paid $3500 CAD for it which works out to be around $2600. Even after a transmission swap and engine, the cost should be substantially lower than the value of the truck!

So had issues with low oil pressure at idle which resulted in a rough/misfires at idle. Engine requires timing chain kit (Tensioners, guides, etc) as well as Cam Phasers. I found a recently rebuilt engine that has all these new components and it will cost $1000 more to swap the engine (Including the price of the engine) than to replace the timing chain so I opted to go this route. However, along the way, I found this link (http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/11...-pressure.html) and thought, if I'm swapping the engine out anyways, let's try it out and see what happens.
15W45 fixed my low pressure at idle so I no longer have any misfires at idle. Can drive the truck fine (except for the transmission slipping). It may only be a temporary fix but at least I can drive the truck around now.

The truck has this crazy rattling sound that it coming from the exhaust system.

Turns out that the truck does not have a catalytic converter.

My theory is that at one point the cats were plugged or exploded and the previous owner decided to delete the cats to "fix" the problem. The broken materials from the cats must have travelled down the exhaust and finally into the muffler.

Also checked out the fuel filter while I was in the put and it looked alright so I will change it but it's not a top priority at the moment.

Swapped my projector HID headlight setup from the red truck. As well as LED tail lights and LED Licence plate lights.

A couple of shots at night (These were taken during the test to see if the truck would still misfire at idle once it reached operating temps).

I don't plan on hauling any 5th wheels with the truck so I decided to remove the hitch for it.

The bolts were rusted on so bad and the previous owner left a lot of wood chunks that I couldn't just weld it out. It had to be cut out.

One Removed

I think I found a bullet shell wedged between the hitch.
