2006 f150....

Bad phaser and tensioner on passenger side. Slight wear marks on timid g cover.
Cam phaser bolts cracked lose and do not have spring compression valve tool.

Looking to release cam caps instead of using tool.

Do I release cam caps at 12 o clock or 6 o'clock.

What about reinstall?

I'd go borrow/rent the correct tool - buy if it's not too expensive.

This place has the tool here:

http://www.shopfreedomracing.com/Val...9-303-1039.htm

Summit racing has it here, which is local:

Are there any places Akron/Canton that you can rent the tool?

I believe unlocking the cam caps would be easier than spending $150-170 on a tool.

Yes I've checked local parts stores and have commercial accounts with three of them. No go for rental but they can sell the tool for around $130-150.

I'd rather save the $150 and remove cam caps since its been done successfully by others. Just need to no proper procedure.

Going out to summitracing tomorrow and getting the valve compression tool. To do the job right shouldn't take short cuts and biting the bullet on tools.
