New member... Need help!!

Hello. I'm new to this forum as well as a first time owner of a Ford Truck. I need to find out what's wrong with my truck. I have a 08 triton 4.6 with 70000 miles. I've only had the truck for two months and today when I was leaving home I started it but before I could pull off I realized I forgot my coffee so I turn it off ran in and grabbed it and come back out and no start. I turn the key and it does nothing. If I hold the key in the start position you I will hear a clicking noise from the passenger side fuse panel. After letting go of the key after about 3 or 4 seconds the cel blinks about eight times and stops. Hoping someone could give me some insight....

Have you tried jumping it? It kind of sounds like a battery that just gave up and died on you? The last few batteries I have had to replace have gone that way -- just up-and-died without so much as a warning! Good luck finding the root cause.....

No I haven't tried jumping it because it just started 2 mins earlier. But I guess it's worth a shot.

If the battery is 3 years old or more, I would replace it regardless. I had a battery quit the very same way.

That sounds like a dead battery. The battery is actually located in the passenger side of the engine bay so that's probably what you are hearing. Very common to hear that noise on any vehicle.

Think i found the culprit. The connector on the power cable to starter was completely corroded and it broke off so that the wire was just hanging. It's too late now to try to do anymore. Hopefully I can just put another connector on the end tomorrow and it will be fine.

A new connector is only going to be a temporary fix - you need to plan on replacing the whole cable pretty soon. Unfortunately, it's only sold as a complete harness, about 85 bucks.
