As the title says curious if i can swap the Cluster in my 04 Lariat to a FX4 without going to the dealer and have everything working. i tried searching but i couldn't find anything concrete on this.

My speedometer right now shows me running 120 MPH all the time.

 

From past posts on doing this, I believe you will run into PATS problems when you do this. They can be fixed, but you MAY need the help of an expert to do it.

i'm thinking i may be better off just to swap clusters with another lariat but i sure do like that look of the FX4/2 !

 

Just wanted to chime in, I saw someone selling Lariat clusters in my local classifieds. Turns out that he wanted to put in Lariat clusters on an FX4 and it didn't work so that's why it's for sale.

 

I don't believe PATS is an issue on the 04-08 clusters. The security module peeking out of the top of the dash deals with that.

I doubt that it's due to the Lariat cluster not working, but the fact that he would have needed to swap the Lariat dash where those info center buttons are over to his FX4.

So, you can indeed swap an FX4 cluster in, but be sure it came from a truck with EATC like a lariat would have or it gets tricky.

So, time to do some reading.

FYI:

Back in June I swapped my '04 xlt to a 05 FX4 cluster from a truck WITH COLUMN shift. You have to keep like shifting together. I looked for the PDNR12 in the pictures when I bought mine. Everything works. Just need to have my mileage reprogrammed which I will be doing soon through a reputable company.

 

I replaced my Lariat cluster with one from an FX4 with manual air. I went to the local Ford dealer and they reprogrammed the cluster. Of course they couldn’t change the mileage and my information buttons no longer work, but I was just glad that they fixed the A/C situation. Everything else is good now.
