Anyone had any luck updating their key fob to the new flip style key fob. I have the new style fob and tried the 8x on the ignition to program a old fob. I have 2 real keys and 2 original fobs for my 2005 screw lariat. The fobs are 2015 fusion 4 button including the trunk button. Just thought it would be a cool mod, if I can get it to work. Obviously I will want to get the flip key cut if I can get the fobs to work, but one thing at a time. Thanks.

 

I have a key for a 2013+ f150, key and 3 button fob all in one. do not believe a key for a fusion will work. there are two letters etched into the metal key portion, those two letter need to match the original key. The letters on my key are SA. I believe the two letters mean what type of chip in inside the key itself. So if you can match that two digit code I would say it would work but its unlikely because its two totally different models. If im not mistaken some 15 f150's has a flip style key, thats something to look into.

 

I got a aftermarket set off eBay found a YouTube video to program the door lock part then took them to a automotive locksmith who cut and programmed the keys for $80
