Transmission slipping in Overdrive?

Hi everyone. I don't post here very often as I usually try to find everything I need by searching. This time I wasn't able to find the answer.

I have an 06 SCrew with 128,xxx miles. I believe that she is starting to slip when in overdrive. It happens as I am going up a slight incline. Just right before the transmission would normally drop into drive, it feels like a hesitation or the engine is missing but if I just tap the throttle a little more and "make" it drop into drive it runs fine. I usually notice it about 45-50mph.

My engine has been running fine so it is hard to believe this is engine related.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a typical misfire to me. Have the plugs ever been changed?

I changed the plugs about 15,000 miles ago.

Did you replace them with motorcraft plugs? And what about the COPs?

I don't think they were Motocrafts. May have been Autolite. I did not change any coils either.

What you described in the original post is a textbook misfire, so I would start with the plugs/COPs. You could change the coil boots first and see if that fixes the problem. If not, then move on to the plugs. Replace them with motorcraft plugs, I believe the number is sp515.

Plug replacement would be easy enough as I put anti seize on the threads. Should I change out all the coil packs or just the boots?

Anti seize should not be used on the threads, but rather on the shank of the plug. And only a light coat. You can change all the coils if you want to, but I believe that new boots will often fix any problems with them. Also, remember to put a dab of dielectric grease in the boots before installing them on the plugs.

I remember putting on the shank as well. Very thin coat. I will be changing the plugs out and the boots. Thanks for the input. I hope this will resolve the issue.
