Ever used the Dorman oil drain plug?

Ordered one as the nut on mine is looking a little worn. The rubber gasket looks different then the one on my truck. Seems like a softer rubber too. I don't want to have a leak using this plug.

Anyone have any experience with these? If they suck I'll just go oem. Not worth the risk.

I use a femco drain. Never pull the plug again! And no mess.

I like it better than the fumoto, no external valve to possibly get hit open. I think it was around 60, for the drain and the drain hose.

Never saw the FEMCO valve before -- that looks like a really nice design!

The only problem I have with these products is that on all of my vehicles, removing the drain plug is not the messy part of the oil change -- it's taking off the dang filter that ends up dripping oil all over my garage floor......

Yeah that is true. But at least you are no longer pulling a drain plug.

I have to agree with you. I've never had any issues with removing the plug or making a mess. The filter is mounted at an angle, and it's always a mess to deal with.

I was mainly asking if anyone had tried this Dorman plug, as I already have it but have not installed. I don't want to have a leak after switching plugs.

Well with your oe plug being used, I could see the rubber seal being harder than the new dorman plug. New rubber will stiffen up when subjected to heat. I would be more cautious about leaks with an older plug with a hard rubber seal.
