New build... saleen hood, 09 up Harley bumper, etc...headlight ?

Recently sold my Procharged FX2 and now I'm trying to build a decent dailey driver that I can use for towing and haul the family... Trying to do something you don't see often so I'm starting off with a Lincoln Mark LT ( grandpa truck ). I might get flamed for some of my mods but thought I'd try it... Started with a clean one-owner 06 4wd.. lowered it 2.5/5 , updating metal strip front bumper to 09-up to work with Harley fascia, using FX2 grill , Saleen hood, 09-up painted mirrors and door handles, street scenes smoothed and painted bed caps, painting the chrome rockers pearl white, 22" DUB Skillz wheels, tinting taillights, and need help with headlights !

I don't want to use China, or cheap eBay parts...I want to keep it clean looking with no halo's, etc... Who makes the best headlight with black surround . I like the Harley but they are hard to find at times. I also like the retrofit hid but have heard of horror stories with them fogging up with condensation. Can I get some recommendations ? Here's some pics so far... truck is currently in body shop getting everything painted.

Day I bought it...

Roger that.

OP -

Bake open a pair of OEM standard silver heads, paint 'em Harley-Style and perhaps install a quality projector retrofit while yer at it - while yall got 'em open.

Painting tutorial (one of many): https://www.f150online.com/forums/ar...eadlights.html

The 'horror' stories' are relegated to wingnuts who don't know WTF they are doing. Use quality heads (like the aformentioned OEM's), good quality butyl sealant from TRS, and you'll have zero fogging issues.

Just some examples (ghey-lo's optional in all cases):

https://www.f150online.com/forums/20...-retrofit.html

https://www.f150online.com/forums/pa...e-hid-kit.html

Sammy (Saleen1013) will also build you a pair to yer exact specifications if you wished to go that route.

Best o' luck!

Any FI plans?

I'll second the route of opening and painting stock heads.

Shoot me a PM about the projectors, we might be able to make a deal on some

I'm curious as to how the 09+ bumper will look. I've always wished my stock fogs were mounted further outward.

As far as heads, go the projector route. I don't think you'll find anyone on this forum that'll tell you differently. Tons of good write ups, and you can paint them while they are open.

Hey there ! Not on this truck... I'm not even putting a cat back on it lol. Just going to make it a good DD and we'll leave options open in future for a project but it's going to be awhile. I lost allot of function in my right hand and wrist permanently. Hated to sell my last build but atleast it went to a great home. I'll pm ya about those lights

They removed allot of bone and fused everything together ! No more air tools

I want to say the frame horns have to be cut in order to put that newer bumper on.

Personally, if the lenses are clear, which they appear to be, I'd take yours apart and paint them to your liking, then seal them back up with OCI butyl glue from theretrofitsource.com. I took OEM Harley lights that thelariat02 sent me, paint matched them Oxford White, sealed them with the butyl, and never once had any issues with condensation. I have since opened them up and added D2S projectors and they're currently apart right now and will be put back together tonight. Crossing my fingers that I won't have any condensation issues.

You'll have to keep us updated on how it turns out , good luck !

I know they changed the frame in many ways but from what I found when I was looking for info was that it should bolt up as long as you use brackets from 06-08. People are doing 09 front end conversions and supposedly everything bolts right up with the exception of the headlight housings..I guess we'll find out ")

Anxious to see this work - gives me a solution to replace an incipient rusting front bumper, before it rusts!

Best o' luck!

I will! They look good, just need to aim them to the right/passenger side more. Might not cause they're close enough for me to be happy with.

Huh, hopefully it's that easy! I know two 06 Raptor conversion guys had to cut the frame horns, but obviously that front end is different. I've only ever seen one normal 04-08 with an 09+ bumper. If yours slips right on, I may follow suit!

Right on ! Can't wait to see it My truck still in body shop and I haven't called to check progress... learned awhile ago to never rush a body man but to let them do their thing.... Meanwhile, my mind is racing with thoughts about that frame horn. I went down to our frame line and looks like the metal bumper strips are close and it appears the bracket that bolts between the frame and bumper would definitely need to be swapped to make it work. Hope these pics help.

Few pics you may have already seen that got me thinking...I think the red truck is Photoshop'd but the silver truck is actual build pics.
