5" tip is too much, a 3" single is plenty, dual 3" will cause you to lose torque

Yep, you'll lose low end punch. The issue is with the speed of the flow of the gases in the pipes. As it cools, it gets heavy. Your engine has to push this crap out before it can breath when gettin' on it. The larger the pipes, the more volume of heavy air that has to be pushed out. Once blown out it works great but the rpms has to stay high to get any advantage from a larger than stock system. For a daily driver, this is going to wrong direction. Mud race or just race, it's a good thing.

I have a 3" exhaust to a straight through round muffler, then dual 2.5" tailpipes Y piped after muffler.

System feels good and as torque ready as stock, with a little better high RPM pull. Probably lost a couple pounds of low end but it isn't noticeable to me. The 3" also sounds good and rich. I am happy with it. Much better running than my old truck with 2.5" true duals.

As far as 5" tips, I wouldn't put dual 5" unless it is lifted. A single OEM exit with 5" tip looks fantastic however.
