Finally behind the wheel of a F-150
Well it took me damn near 40 years but I'm finally a F-150 owner. i just picked up a '04 FX4 with 91,000km (56,500 miles). It's in great shape. Just looking for any info on what to keep my eyes on to keep it nice.
I've got to fix the HVAC resistor (no speed 1 or 2) And I plan on switching out the radio to accommodate a backup camera.
All in all i couldn't be happier with my purchase!

That's a clean truck
If you have the 5.4L, I'd get the spark plugs out of the way. The sooner, the better. Lots of information on here about it. Short version is the spark plug design used on the earlier 3V engines were an engineering fail. The sooner they're changed, the easier it will be. On that same engine, something to keep an ear on is the camshaft phasers. If you start getting a distinctive low-frequency knocking coming from the front of the engine, that's something else. But don't worry about that otherwise.
If you have the 4.6L, you're solid.
With so little miles on a ten year old truck, I'd be curious as to how clean the engine is inside. If spend most of its life on short trips with infrequent oil changes, there's the potential for sludge to build up. These engines have very tight tolerances and sludge causes a chain-reaction of failures. It's easy to take a peek inside by looking through the oil cap.
Congrats on the new truck, and welcome to the forum.

Very clean big bird! What a great color, shame they didn't offer it throughout the years. There is one local but Supercab and stepside bed, very sleek looking truck.
All FX4s 2002 - 2010 have the 5.4L. Good advice for him though.

One issue that came up last night.....It rained and my back seat got wet, from what I found here it looks like an issue with the 3rd brake light. So back it goes to get that looked at.
