2004 OEM Intake Mod

Thought I would help out the breathing on the 5.4 and jazz up the engine compartment a bit. (Summit Racing part numbers)

SPE-91489 4 in Intake Duct Mount
SPE-9504 4 in hose clamp (2)
SPE-9519 3.5 in Intake Tube 6 in long
SPE-9741 4 in to 3.5 in Reducer

Duct Mount installed

Looks better now, runs about the same

The smallest dia through the stock intake was 2 in, that is now 3.5 in with this mod. I don't know if a 2 in hole is enough for a 5.4L? I will try an open loop test at some point and see if I can feel it in the paints.

Well this is essentially the gotts mod. And from what I've read on this site, it seems to be a good set up. The stock intake flows enough air for the 5.4 so opening up the end a bit, even with the neck down through the fender should show improvements in your butt dyno.

After driving it a while I found that the response is a little better. I have a 91 Octane Performance tune that was made for a CAI and CB exhaust setup. When I got tired of the CAI noise I put the stock intake back on. It seemed OK, but I think it runs better with the extra air from this mod and the tune.
