Stainless Steel Brake Lines
Ok so I am in the market for new brake pads and rotors so I was thinking about doing stainless steel brakes lines while I replace everything.
now I did some research and I don't understand why these seem to be hard to find. Russell has them but it says three are included? Why don't I get four? Can anyone help me out here?

The Russell kit doesn't include the lines at the outside ends of the rear axle. I have this kit installed. Those lines normally only flex when you change brake pads or otherwise disassemble the system. It has both front and the single line to the distribution block near the center of the rear axle. I wish they had included all 5 lines.

One line at each corner = 4.
The rear brake has a single line from the master cylinder going to a splitter that is attached to the top of the axle on the driver's side of the differential pumpkin. It also serves as the axle vent. That's the 5th line. The front two caliper lines and this 5th line are included in the Russell kit. Essentially you have one rear hydraulic brake line that gets split in two at the axle.
On another note, the rear ABS is rather primitive also. There is a single speed sensor in the differential. The computer thus only knows the average speed of the rear wheels, rather than each wheel's individual speed. It can also only activate ABS for the rear axle as a whole, as it does not have individual braking control over each rear wheel.

Apparently traction control became available on 2006 4x2 models. Unknown when 4x4 models got it. Traction control would require dual channel rear braking rather than single channel as on my truck. It would also then allow for true 4 wheel ABS. In this case, it would also require 6 brake hoses.

Ah, I looked and no one makes the jumper line from axle to rear calliper. Suppose you could get them made at a hose shop.
Goodridge do a nice line set. That's where my money would go.
Apparently the Braided lines remove the pulse from the ABS pump? Never encountered that on any braided brake system av run.
