Look at what showed up today! My spare set of headlights showed too but I was not home when they tried to deliver, so I'll just go pick them up tomorrow.

First thought was wow, these things are massive.

Made progress today. Had ripped my replacement headlights apart the other day. So I decided to get the projectors mounted. Took a few hours of cutting and sanding. If I was to do this again, I would use a 2 1/2 holesaw instead of the 3". Could sand it out for a better fit.

Anyways. Decided to go with a flat black, basically everything aside from the reflector bowl for the signal light. Also going to tint the side marker.

Progress so far.

I'm (Good) jealous of that 3" wish I would have waited instead of using 2.5"

Yeah, the 3" does look pretty good. Kind of wish the shroud did a better job of covering it. But that's a different story.

Got them fully mounted today. Just have to put a few more coats on the shrouds, and I'm going to spray the backs of the projectors as well to help blend them in.

You and me both. One thing I realized is it doesn't matter how much research you do on a retrofit. It will test your nerves a few times. And as my first retro, I'm hoping it turns out good.

Yeah, a retro has really made my short list now and I'd like an FX-R 3.0, but I don't want to pay someone else to do it. So I have to decide between the easy to do Mini, or the FX-R that'll test my nerves quite a bit haha.

Haven't got much for progress pictures yet. I'm still waiting for the halos to show up. They should be here in a week or two. And in the meantime I'm almost thinking about different shrouds. I like the look of the gatlings but I'm almost sick of how much trimming is involved.

Kmac, get the fx-r. I personally haven't seen any other retrofit locally, but with the experience I've had so far, the trimming to fit isn't that bad. It really only took me maybe 2.5 hours to get both to fit right. And it wasn't like I worked hard at it.

I will try to get some progress pictures sometime this week. But I'm really trying to force myself to take my time and get it right the first time.

Problem is, knowing me, I'll cut something too far and ruin the headlight(s) But I'd learn from that one time and I'd only be out $75, and that's cheap trade for gaining knowledge and a skill.

I know what you mean. That is why I got a spare set of heads. Mostly so I could take my time doing it. Way less likely to screw up that way.

I've got my black aftermarkets, my OEMs, and may be getting a third set just in case.

A few spare sets will be nice. I'm going to polish my oem set this weekend, then put them into the fathers mark lt. His are basically brand new as they were 3m covered at the dealership.

Was planning on finishing the paint work on the shrouds tonight but I had to do a belt and tensioner on the brothers hd. So we tackled that instead. Probably won't have a lot of time till Monday to get anything done now.
