Cruise not working...e-brake issue?

I am driving the companies truck. its a 2wd 4.7l XL. basically I am pretty sure cruise was the ONLY option this truck got...lol. The problem is, the cruise doesnt work. There is nothing, when I push "ON" i dont get the little light in the dash nothing.

I did a search and saw that sometimes it is a brake pedal switch that can cause the problem, and that made me remember that the e-brake "light" in the dash is on all the time. I dont think the e-brake works at all, its really easy to push the pedal for it all the way down to the floor.

Could this be part of the issue? Any thoughts on what to do? I have to drive it 2.5 hours home tomorrow on the Interstate...cruise would be nice!!

I ddi not think there was a fuse for it. I was searching in the owners manual and I did not find a fuse listed for cruise.

Not saying you're doing it wrong but when you say you push "ON" is that all you're pushing? You're suppose to push "ON" and then "ACCEL" for the cruise to activate. I've seen other people do this and say their cruise doesn't work....

One time I had the cruise on and just pushed the parking brake pedal far enough to turn the dash light on to see if it would de-activate the cruise and it did. So if they brake light's on that is more than likely your problem.

I drive Fords...in the last 10 years I have had 7 Fords...so thats not it...but I am not offended...lol. On MY car and truck when I press the "On" button I get the little green light on the dash on at least (kind of looks like a speedometer) but there is nothing happening at all when you press 'on' or 'accel'

On my 05 F150 and my wifes 2010 escape the light doesn't come on until you press set.

There could be multiple issues:

1. Fuse.
2. Light.
3. Something with the ebrake.
4. Clockspring.
5. Bad cruise control button (water/liquid spilled).
6. Clutch cruise disengage switch (if it's a standard).
7. Faulty wiring someplace.
