So the plugs are soakin - Does prem gas, seafoam and Lucas really matter?

2005 F150 4x4 WITH 69K miles that has ran prem gas for years and Lucas fuel treatment put in every tank and 2 weeks ago was seafoamed has officially started it's plug change. All COP are off, holes blown out, vacuumed other crap up, back off 1/4 turn with ear piercing noise and now is soaking with PB Blaster.

Truck has sat all night so it's at room temperature but it was 101 yesterday so that doesn't matter...lol

I will keep you posted. Any thoughts on how long to let it soak? I would like to do it overnight but I'm impatient and in case anyone is wondering I'm using Motorcraft for the replacement.

Update: Soaked for 35 minutes and took one click at a time and not one broke. I vacumed the holes then blew them out then tried to start the truck to blow the holes out. Now wife is headed to Napa to grab my Nickle crap that cost me $32 bucks.

Anyone need a Lisle tool and some permatec nickle goo?

I'm happy inside, the picture doesn't show it but that's because it's almost 100F:

don't let it soak too long or they dry again. Just follow the TSB, soak about 30 min. If you run premium fuel on an 87 tune, then you could be causing more deposits. The key to me is run the fuel that matches your tune and fuel that has a good detergent such as Techron. I have no idea about the effectivness of Lucus or Seafoam. Mine all came out following the TSB.

Nah, I have a 91 tune and run 91 (if I can find it) or 93 which is 90% of the time. Alright, I'll give her another 20 and start at it.

When you followed the TSB, you tightened, then backed, then tighten then back etc etc until they were out or did you just soak and back all the way out?

Break loose with a quarter turn, let soak and then start the back, forward procedure until they are out. Lots of patience. If they are going to break, it is usually right away. Just have the Lisle tool handy.

I have always used top premium gas and ran two cans of bg cleaner through my tank before they still broke.

Thanks, Yeah I'm not big on patience either. One thing not many say anything about is try to keep your socket and extensions straight meaning when you go torkin on them to losin them you can put an angle pressure point on them which may result in breaking. I noticed how this could happen when I was doing my swap out so I keep mental note to always keep it aligned.

Great write up! thanks for taking the time to show us in detail. I'm sticking with my initial option. Techron is proven and will matter. Seafoam will help soften the carbon deposits. One thing I would really like to see pics of, is a set of plugs after running Auto-RX in the oil 2-3k.
