Spark plug change on newer "fixed" models yet ?

Needless to say, I was quite relieved to find that Ford had finally (about 3 years late, but anyway) changed the spark plug situation some time later in 08'. I was told this is easy to check, as all of these newer "fixed" models, have brown spark plug boots.

So I ran out to check (heart beating a little faster) and.... whooo..... mine were brown ! Thank God.

Now, it will probably be a long time before I need to do a plug change (I've only got 16K on my 08') but still, it would be nice to hear from some guys with the newer, fixed models, who have already done a spark plug change, and who can confirm, the problem has indeed, been fixed.

Of course, they will have to have either, drove a whole bunch in 2 years, or have changed their plugs pretty early.....

Anybody ?

Thank you,
Fish

I'll have to take a look at my Pops 08 F350. He's got the same 5.4L as I do in my 06.

But he may be lucky and not have the spark plug problems I do.

I'll chack it out this weekend and let you know what I find.

Hello there, Mr. Fish!

If you have the brown COPs you are in luck.

These are standard-looking plugs and can be R&R'd with no drama. or breakage, using standard best practices; engine @ room temp, blow out the holes, etc, etc

They look like this:

http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=1533310

According to Rock Auto for the MY 2008's 5.4L 3V's ...

NGK 1698 - Plat
NGK 5507 - Premium Plat
NGK 372 - Iridium
MOTORCRAFT SP509

... would all be suitable.

Our Good Member 'GLC' also posted about this back in 2008: https://www.f150online.com/forums/3478602-post316.html

I hope that was helpful - Can I also interest you in some Preparation H?

Hey MGD, yes, I do have the ones "they say" have been fixed. I was just wondering if somebody had actually tested this theory.... or if this was just "an assumption".....

Thats funny... I've been seeing that school bus on the monster tires and lift, around my town for a few weeks ....not on the street, but rather, they have it in grocery store parking lots, giving rides to the kids.

Peace,
Fish

LOL

Well hey, since I pride myself for "not being one of the crowd", I have to agree, we have plenty of peckerwoods around here

Seriously though, I'm thinking my post might be a bit ahead of it's time. I'll probably ask again in a year or two.

Peace,
Fish

I've changed mine when I did the supercharger install to install colder Brisk spark plugs. These are conventional spark plugs. You won't have any issues. Stop worrying.
