2005 4.6L with Poor Acceleration, rides out the gears for too long.....

I just added a K&N air filter, and had the injectors serviced. This is my first F-150 so I have nothing to compare the acceleration too, but it seems like it would have more power then it shows. Several friends have said that the throttle response seems slow as well.

Any suggestions?

Thx
Brad

Not much you can do, without $$$. Heavy truck + tiny motor = woof woof perf.

For throttle response - if you haven't tryed a dealer PCM reflash, is an aftermarket ( custom) tuner. That WILL fix yer drive-by-wire ETC issues. Among other things.

There is also a gear change - 4.10's for example will help....

How much does a PCM reflash, and gears typically cost?

PCM reflash»
Depends on the dealer I've heard anything from 70-130.
Gears»
4x4 1000-1400
With the gear install a pcm recalibration for the speedo will need to be done also.

I too have heard the same as far as the reflash price. Instead of the reflash I suggest a tuner that was mentioned by MGD. He is right on about it WILL remove your slow throttle response. Of course it does lots of other things to. Check out the tuner section.

My condolences

A custom tune would have fixed 100% of the ETC lag, and woke it up even more

Get it fer a good price?

For a stock truck, an Edge will be good enough, I've had mine for almost a year, and it's time to have it sent to PHP to be converted to a Gryphon. You can buy a programmer from them, but it could cost you about $460 +/- depending on how many tunes you get.
