Which is brighter?

Which is brighter, the PIAA 520's or KC Daylighter Spot Lights? I'm torn between the 2 as they are both 6" lights. I'm on a budget to spend $400-$500 on lights and a light bar and these are the lights I'm looking at...

Which PIAA 520's are you talking about?

520 SMR Series
520 ATP Series
520 Series

Which KC Daylighters are you talking about?

KC DaylighterŽ Driving Beam Lights
KC DaylighterŽ Flood Beam Lights
KC DaylighterŽ Fog Beam Lights
KC DaylighterŽ Off Road Lights

Anyway.....

Depending on your posted budget, you're going to have a tough time staying within it if you choose one or two of those lights [PIAA especially] with a light bar thrown in.... depending, of course, on the light bar you're considering.

I have never run the KC DaylighterŽ [though I've read nothing but positive reviews/remarks] but I do currently have the PIAA 520 Series Ion Crystal Driving lights and couldn't be happier. PIAA's customer serice is also legendary.

Hope the KC crew will chimein for you.

PIAA's SMR or ATP...not sure which one is brighter and then KC's Daylighter Offroad Lights/Flood Beams. I'm confused on which of these lights would be brighter from each brand as I don't know anything about lighting and from reading I'm still a little in the dark. I know I want something that acts as a spot light, won't kill my battery, is long range, and gives a good field of view. I drive down country roads at night and I'm not wanting to run the chance of hitting something which is why I want as bright of lights as possible. I'll mount all 4 on the light bar, and after reviews of light bars I'm willing to raise my budget to around $600+/-.

Don't forget LightForce, they have rock-resistant lenses and interchangeable optics.

If you are worried about driving down country roads, I used to have the PIAA 520 Ion Crystal fogs, and those lit up the sides of the roads very well. They were awesome driving into Colorado on I-76... Very good side to side and distance lights. Not sure if the angle of the driving lights vs the fogs w/o going to the PIAA website.

I looked at PIAA's website and didn't see any info on the beam direction/distance of the SMR's, but found the ATP's. I plan on at some point replacing the headlights and factory fogs with sometype of upgrade (fogs I'm looking at the PIAA 510's since someone on this forum I believe it was replaced their factory fogs with the 510's and it looked great).

KC Daylighter offroads have reach and are super bright. I love them. The PIAA 520's fogs have more of a spread and for close range use. Paired together you have the best of both worlds.

Which 520 fogs are you speaking of?

Yes, the 520 SMR Series and 520 Series [both] have great spill but their throw is also very, very impressive.

If one-quarter mile [or so] is what you're speaking of, then yes, they are for close range use.

The Crystal Ion Fogs. I don't think you can go wrong with either brand. I just recommend mixing the lights for the best trail coverage.

Might just get 4 of the KC Daylighter Spotlights then...I'd like to have guards on them and don't want to have mix-matched lights.
