I can't keep forking over money for this bearing issue...it's gotten way too expensive! I'm taking in my truck to Ford to have them give a look over and see if there's something else going on here like a spindle or something. I just can't see how this engineering could be so poor. Please help...replies, emails, IM's...anything!

BTW, my truck is an '05 F150 2WD
So after $230 at Ford, they said that nothing is wrong and that my problem has been junk non-OEM rotors. I did speak to a service tech at Centric and he stated pretty clearly that reusing the spindle nut is a huge problem. In order to get 295 lbs of torque on a reused spindle nut, it actually has to be tightened further on the spindle since it's already been cut into originally. Also, if locktite is used (which it was by the brake guys), it actually acts as a lubricant initially and the actual final torgue on a reused spindle nut could be around 325-350 lbs pushing the rotor too far back and causing bearing problems due to being over torqued. I'm not a mechanic nor an engineer, so no clue here. But I am getting new Bendix rotors and new spindle nuts as warranty replacements. If these don't work...I'm selling before I have to tackle the spark plugs fiasco!!

Hey All,

I am in serious need of the centric rotor and hub upgrade for my 2004 f150 2wd. Every site that used to sell the kits has it listed as unavailable or does not list it at all. Does anyone know if this has been discontinued. I hop not. I don't want to put the oem one piece again. They don't last.

Thanks

Steve

I spoke directly to Centric twice about this upgrade. They told me that they were also having problems with the bearings and have redesigned the hub and are currently in production. The tech I spoke with sent an email with ETA to China and he replied to me that they're about 2 weeks out. It will be the same part number as before. 120.65128

Are you having bearing issues also??

120.65128 2004 F150 2WD, a basic 2-piece replacement kit for the hub/rotor assembly b

Hi Abourda

Thanks for the Info. No bearing problems as of yet. Funny I just called centric this morning and the Girl that picked up wouldn't give me any more info than that they are out of stock and that she didn't know when they were getting any more. With the information you have just provided i'm thinking that it is a better idea to take it easy with my warped rotors for a little while and get the new design.

Thanks

Steve

I don't think that part number is for the hubs. I think that part number is for rotors only. Can anyone confirm?

i'm confused by this hub/bearing/rotor assembly. do you have to press it into the knuckle like replacing a bearing on most cars? this is such a confusing concept to me

Just an FYI these parts are increasingly more difficult to find. The Hub / Rotor package is on indefinite backorder from Centric. After a half day of searching I found they can be obtained for 203 a side free shipping from brakewarehouse dot com. There are about 18 sets left. Might want to call to verify actual inventory before placing an online order. Apparently they are trying to source a new manufacturer and it's taking quite a while. I just got my set this week and on visual inspection it looks great especially the hub.

I just recieved my Hub/Rotor Kit from Rockauto.com.

I can now definetly tell you that 12065128 is the correct part number for the kit and not just the rotor. I recieved the hubs rotors and spindle nuts.

Kits costed me:

CENTRIC 12065128 (120.65128) Rotor $ 138.79 $ 0.00 2 $ 277.58
Shipping Ground (FedEx or UPS) $ 31.81
Order Total $ 309.39

so did you have to press the old hubs and wheel bearings off and throw in new wheel bearings along with the new hubs?

noice. how easy are the new hubs/bearings to get onto the truck? i've only ever dealt with bearings/hubs that had to be bench-pressed into the knuckle after it was pulled off the car.

i found this website for R1 brakes, but i cant tell if they're offering the hubs with the rotors or if you have to go find them yourself and then just buy their rotors. anybody try those guys?

There is a document about this on Centric's website. Go to http://www.centricparts.com/ and hit the Tech Support tab at the top. Go to White Papers and there is a PDF document at the bottom of the third section "Technical Guides" for the F150.
