Just sold the truck. After 5+ years, was running strong on same pads, hub/bearing, and rotor. This upgrade was a big win. Awesome forum... Awesome info.

Mine have failed once, and now the left front bearing hub is failing again. There is grease coming out of the Centrics bearing, and this is contaminating the ABS sensor gear.

Did you replace the "DO NOT RE-USE" nut?

Sounds like this is one of those "how to save money" solutions. The kit allows you to buy lower priced rotors. And anyone with economy in mind, is not installing this kit, then upgrading to using very expensive slotted, cross drilled, rotors.

With the 2WD, most of the problems come with trying to save money. Do not re-use the spindle nut. They are expensive, but you should not reuse them. Do not buy cheap brakes. Cheap rotors have cheap bearings. Cheap pads on cheap rotors will not stop as well.

I have found that the PowerStop brake kit works well. Stops good. No bearing failures. As for myself, I find the value in the stopping power. I don't care if the brakes cost more, if I don't run into a tree. I'll trim my budget and save money by clipping coupons at the supermarket and buying day old bread, if I don't run into a tree.

I tried the PowerStop kit and it works well with my Centric conversion.

I have found the old Wagner thermoquiet pads are fantastic, they went 70k on the first set...

I knew a guy with a muffler & brake shop. He got me everything at his cost from his distributor. Always Bendix & Wagner. I got a good price, and that was all that I cared about. Never had a problem with those brands. My cars always were able to stop, and I could resurface the rotors and just change pads. But the PowerStop kits are noticeably better On small economy cars, I never noticed the difference. After all, a Honda Civic isn't a performance vehicle (unless you have the right stickers). But with a 1/2 ton pickup, with bigger wheels and tires, and a full load or towing......the more expensive brakes are worth it.

Check out brakemotive on eBay, they are power stop parts when you run the part numbers. Been using them for a decade on different applications and never have been let down. Having said that the rotor pad kits come with the z16 pads (not a fan) so I only buy the rotors and used the z36 pads on the truck
