Adjustable steering column?

I just purchased an 05 FX4. I went to adjust the steering column and found there is no way to make adjustments to it. I have adjustable pedals but nothing for the steering wheel.

I took off the plastic piece under the steering column and then removed the metal piece so I could expose the entire column. From what I can tell there looks to be gears and teeth that would be used to move the steering wheel up and down as well as extend or shorten the length.

Do most other FX4 owners have adjustable steering wheels?

Are you talking about a tilt wheel? Tilt wheel is standard on FX4's, look under the steering column between the wheel and dash for a black handle or lever. Pull down on the that handle and adjust your wheel to your liking, push handle back up to lock it into position.

The tilt option is not there. One of the first things I did was open the owners manual to try and locate where the tilt handle was. I swore I was an idiot for not seeing it but after reading where it was located it confirmed that its not there.

I was curious if a push button tilt was available. The gears I mentioned look like they would control the tilt of the wheel electronically.

The handle is hidden, it sits flush with the underside of the column when locked. It's not the older style like the turn signal lever. Take another look and see, cuase I thought all new 150's had tilt wheel except the XL's

If you put your hand on the lower left quadrant of the steering column, you should feel it under your fingers.

I'll take a picture of the location on mine when I get home

Where is the lever? It looks like someone either took it out or broke it off.

I will have to dig around some more tomorrow and see what I can find. I have been adjusting my seat up to the highest setting and its still uncomfortable. If I can get this fixed it will be a huge relief.

you truck is equipped with the option you are just missing the lever. buy the lever and slide it into place. if you lay your head down on the floor board you can wiggle it into place and snap it in.

Where to purchase?

Hi Everyone:

I have the same problem with my 2004 F150 FX4 that I recently purchased. I've google'd the steering column lever in an attempt to buy one, but haven't had any luck. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'd like to avoid the dealer if possible.

Thanks!
Christian
