went to the track, few videos

well my bro-in-law and i went to the atlanta dragway friday night and had alot of fun. the truck didnt do quite as well as i was hoping, but it was 85 degrees with 80% humidity which i know was slowing the truck down, not to mention the track is a little high at over 1000' elevation. was able to run pretty consistant 14.8's and 14.9's. as it cooled down a little outside the truck got quicker and my last run was a 14.805 which would have been a 14.7, but the guy i was racing broke down and like a dumbass i took my foot off the gas for the last cpl hundred feet. also these cheap tires i have dont hook up as well as the toyos i used to have. i think with cooler and dryer air, i could be in the low 14's.

but all in all we had a good time. anyway here are some vids

I'm sure those big wheels played a hand in it too. Besides that, it's pretty quick for a 4500 pound truck!

you need to get a set of 17" rims and some 30" rubber for the track runs

I bet you easily get down to low 14's with that alone...what size rim/rubber you currently running

yeah i know the 22's are hurting, and the tires are 31.6"...

i have my stock 17's but im afraid that those skinny tires will just spin away. plus theyve been through so many burnouts that theyre all farked up...

ive been causally searching for some 17X9 or 17X10 wheels to put some drag radials on, but i need to wait till finances are a little better before i buy. i am also considering upping the boost to 8 psi as i need a new belt anyway, but im just scared to put anymore stress on my motor till i get another daily driver.

i want to go back to the track in october on a cool night and se what she'll run, and by that time maybe ill have some better wheels/tires

Cool!

Yeah, you need track tires and light rims.

Excellent runs. It's not the wheel size. Trust me. I'm running 20's and I get into the low 14's all the time with a supercrew 5.5 bed and 4x2.

What I believe is killing you is your rear end ratio. What are you running?? 3.55?

how do you have a supercharger with only 308 hp, shouldn't you be at 400?

I'm sure his truck has 400 hp at the crank, but the 308 hp is at the rear wheels. Normally the hp at the rear wheels is about 15-18% less than the hp at the crank.

Great times for a truck.

im currently running motive 4.10's.

when i was dynod, i was running the stock 3.55's with the 22's and the stock roush tune. they had trouble because they were hitting the speed limiter in 3rd on the dyno. i was also throwing a check engine light because of an unplugged cam position sensor. now i dont know how much all of this affected my numbers...

but assuming that 308 number was accurate, i should now be running 350 rwhp/ 440 crank hp or so at least with the troyer tunes and long tube headers.

now with 350 rwhp, you would think my truck would be faster, i know.... i cant explain why my truck seems to put down low numbers and times, maybe i got a funky truck....

but o well i like my truck. my goal is to get into the 13's one day which i think is still very doable without major mods. i am very curious though to see what a difference some smaller lightweight wheels and sticky tires would make. these 22's are heavy, and good gear ratio or not, that extra rotational mass hurts...

i think its 450 at the crank with the rousch set up, so i would expect atleast 350-370 at the wheels.

maybe b/w that and the 22's that would explain the low HP numbers.
