No added cost, but when you size your power amps, power inverter and accessories on a 130 amp alternator, planning it out not to overload the system, then find out you have a 110 amp alternator that tested output is 94 amps on mind...... I was planning to have my alternator rebuilt to 200 amps for a better low RPM output at haft the price of buying a rebuilt 200....

Can't do it on a small case 110 amp and I hate to even look at the power curve on it, probably don't put sh$t below 2000 RPM and is the reason I can't keep my battery charged... where I live is 30 to 40 MPH everywhere around here, stop and go, and most anything you want is within 5 to 10 miles...

oh well, I be buying a H.O. and have a 110 amp paper weight for the work shop it looks like and for 300.00 plus instead of 165.00 to build mind...

They even dim driving down the highway at 2000 rpm, so I am about to do the big 3 upgrade and if that doesn't work then I will look at a ho alt.

What is the big three? I'm trying to do a 2000 watt amp for subs set up.

6 year old thread bump.. It's upgrading and adding new wires under the good to help with dimming issues and the charging system. Just google big three, you'll find it..

Do a dual alt setup
On my brother in laws limo it has factory alt in normal spot and 2nd alt reverse mounted so the pulleys are next to each other
Although you might need to make a costume mount for it

Well after reading this thread I went and found the sticker for my truck. It saysI have a 130 amp alternator. Now I'll have to check it out and se if its a 130 or not. But after 8 years I doubt Ford Will rebate the cost differance or replace it with a 130 amp one if I have the weaker 110 amp one instaled on my truck.
