2005 F150 5.4 130 Amp Alternator..

So whats up with Ford saying 130 Amp Alternator on my Window Sticker and now that i'm looking into getting a H. O. for a better low RPM power curve on output...

I have found out my truck has a 110 amp factory alternator on it, I'm the only owner and I have the window sticker that states plain as day 130 amp.

Called ford dealer and they ran the vin, came back to a 110 amp also, they said they have no idea why the sticker says 130 amp.. they also said ford don't even make a 130 amp

Any body else ran into this or I'm I the first to find out??

Can some of you ford dealer guys answer this one??

I know that my 05 is supposed to have a 130 amp on it, and with 600 watt rms sub amp 300 watt rms door speaker amp and e-fans when I play my music loud my lights dim pretty good. They even dim driving down the highway at 2000 rpm, so I am about to do the big 3 upgrade and if that doesn't work then I will look at a ho alt.

Well, got back from the Ford dealer and they are going to call Ford to see whats the deal, but the guy in parts showed me on the computer it only 1 alternator avalible for 2005 F150 5.4 and it a 110 amp, went out and looked at the new trucks on the lot , they all say 110 amp not 130... so I don't know whats the deal....

you can now run your vin on Motorcraft site and get as built data for your truck, it also says mind is a 110 amp too...

Aftermarket alternators generally are pretty good... I recommend a place called http://www.mralternator.com/ ... I had one in my '99 F150 with sub... because I didn't want a capacitor setup.

Pretty much any aftermarket H.O. alternator is good... but some of them are pretty cheap... cheaper than the O.E.M. alternator.

Ok, spill the beans, what do you know???

I was looking into having my factory alternator rebuilt to a 200 amp H.O. by a alternator builder out of state, I could'nt find any numbers on it so I sent him some pics, thats when I found out I don't have a 130, he said it a 136mm 105/110 amp G6 Small Case and is'nt worth messing with for a H.O. build

he said only the 149mm 115/135 amp G6 Large Case is built for H.O. use...

I have an '05 FX4 and it says a 130 amp alternator is part of standard equipment. I looked and according to the picture, it is a 110 alternator.

I thought the H.O. alternator was only with the Heavy Duty F150?

not from talking to the dealer and looking on there computer, 110 only.. i'm still puzzled and waiting to here from the ford dealer, as they said it would be researched and would get back with me in a week to 10 days...

my question to the dealer was:

I just want to know why the window sticker states 130 amp on a 110 amp factory installed alternator... I want my other 20 amps I paid for...

The std. alternator rating has changed from 130 amps to 110
amps due to a change in the rating system. There is no change
to actual alternator performance.

just like the 20 MPG highway rating.. my truck might get 20 if the motor is'nt running and its being towed on a trailer with a 20 MPH wind behind it...

Was there a cost for this option?? If so, I'd think you'd have some serious grounds to pursue a refund regardless of how much. Sometimes it's principle!!!
