You've got a point, if you're talking about N/A but on anything with F/I it's a different story.
Either way, I'm sure we're not talking about a blower/turbo of any sort in this particular scenario.

I have heard that the larger Magnaflows are fairly quiet. I think if you went to a muffler shop and told them your concerns they would be able to set you up. The length and diameter of the exhaust pipe will control the amount of sound and that can be controlled by the installer to your discretion.

Wanna keep it cheap and get more sound and power. I got the ticket.
High flow magnaflow cats, 24" magnaflow muffler SI/SO and a 3.5" tip. Keep as much stock exhaust pipe as possible.
That will give you a *slight* horsepower gain.. a slight increase in sound only at Wide open throttle, and the tip will look better. Everything incluing labor shouldn't run more than $200.
If you name is "Blown03" you should know by now that changing exhaust anything short of headers doesn't gain you any noticable HP/TQ.
