I want to put exhaust on my 07 fx4 but want it to sound as close to stock as possible. I hate the looks of the stock tailpipe and a little more power wouldnt hurt either. Any help would be great.

I can't think of anything that will give you more power without changing the sound. If you just want the looks why don't you just do the tailpipe with a good looking tip.

All I did was a stainless tip. Cleans it up a bit.

 

You've got a point, if you're talking about N/A but on anything with F/I it's a different story.

 

Sure, but you best be doing the entire exhaust from the heads all the way back in that case.
Either way, I'm sure we're not talking about a blower/turbo of any sort in this particular scenario.

I have heard that the larger Magnaflows are fairly quiet. I think if you went to a muffler shop and told them your concerns they would be able to set you up. The length and diameter of the exhaust pipe will control the amount of sound and that can be controlled by the installer to your discretion.

 

If quiet is what you want, save your money and put a chrome tip on the stocker.

 

Gibson stainless.

 

I hate to say it but Gibson has never impressed me at all, for looks or sound.

 

I would say go with a big magnaflow muffler. They have 18" long mufflers that are still quiet, but you get a little rumble when you step on it. You might get some extra power too. They have round mufflers that are like 18" long and 6" wide.

 

Magnaflow has a 24'' muffler that is really quiet. To me the 18'' is quiet.

 

Wanna keep it cheap and get more sound and power. I got the ticket.

High flow magnaflow cats, 24" magnaflow muffler SI/SO and a 3.5" tip. Keep as much stock exhaust pipe as possible.

That will give you a *slight* horsepower gain.. a slight increase in sound only at Wide open throttle, and the tip will look better. Everything incluing labor shouldn't run more than $200.

If you name is "Blown03" you should know by now that changing exhaust anything short of headers doesn't gain you any noticable HP/TQ.

 

Get the biggest Magnaflow muffler you can find. The bigger they are the quieter.
