Mark LT shifter in an F150

New thread regarding this change. I started this project not knowing what others had already done since my search came up empty. I am sure I did not get through them all or entered different search criteria.

Anyway what I did was order a tan shift **** for the Mark. When I got it I discovered what everyone else did Ford changed the shifter design for the Mark. The first part number was 5L3Z-7213-E this was just a ****. I called the dealer thinking Ford did some sort of change form year to year. The dealer took more info about my truck and ordered me a second part number 5L3Z-7213-P this came with not only the **** but the entire shift mechanism for inside the console part number 5L3P-7C453-BB. I have since order the correct button, which rocks, for the shifter ****.

My question now is does anyone know how to get the center console cover off and then if this mechanism has the same mounting points. I would love to say know but Ford did redesign the just the shifter for the Mark so I have no idea.

I can answer one question:

The console cover just pulls off, it has 4 of those clips that press into openings.

why dont you just grind out the guts of the LT shifter and insert the guts of your shifter? I just did this mod yesterday, the LT shifter cost me an arm and a leg (60 for the shifter, and another 40 cause i broke my original shifter "guts"). It was deffinatly not the easist mod ever, but well worth it. any questions i can try my best to help you out. I dont beleive it has the same setup as the f150, i could be wrong though, my dealer said it probably wouldnt fit (the entire assembly)

Yes, absolutely, all of the guts have to go.

We had a thread about this roughly two years ago, and a lot of good information was exchanged. If you get lost, I'll do my best to help.

My 2007 FX4 has the hinged shift ****. So i picked up the LT shifter, I'll report back if it goes in without substantial mods.

It worked! Here's the breadown.

45 Minutes - to figure that the 07 shifter is nothing like the 04-06. After pulling apart the quadrant I realized that the chrome doesnt slide down because it has a permanent retainer below the gate. I knew right then there had to be a simpler way.

3 Minutes - Popped the hinge push button off (easy) removed a T-15 screw below said button. Hadle easily slide off. Placed the new leather LT shifter on, and reversed steps to complete.

It took me 48 minutes, but should only take you 3. Maybe 5 if you keep putting your beer down.

So I guess the question is this: will the 07 FX4 shifter mechanism swap straight into the 04-06 trucks? If so, then I would think that the Mark LT shifter mechanism would also swap straight into the truck also?

From the looks of it it seems the entire quadrant would have to be swapped.

The leather Mark LT shifter handle will not fit the 04-06 without SUBSTANTIAL mods. Mine went right in because the 07 F150 now has the same shifter qudrant as the LT.
