6 Speed Transmission

Just read about the 2007 Expedition EL and how it has a 6 speed tranny and was wondering if theres any hint of Ford doing the same with the F150? I may trade in my 04 if they go that route...

Interesting. If they are putting it in the expys, I'd think theyd put it in the 150s too. Maybe they are gonna hold off for a year and let the expys do the real world testing before letting it out on the larger number sold of F150s.

The F150 is getting a variant of the 5R series 5 speed auto in a few more years. Don't hold your breath for a 6 speed.

I really don't see where Ford was looking with the 4 speed route, if you're going to have a weak block give it a decent tranny.

The 4R70/75W are cheap, that's where they were looking.

No, they haven't. The Navigator didn't get the 6HP26 'till '05 when they got the 5.4 3V. 5.4 4V Navigators had 4R100s.

Could you swap one of these in a truck and just reprogram it? It would need a different driveshaft.

If the trannys are different length, a good drveline shop could get the shafts redone for pretty cheap.

I would imagine the computer would have to be changed and the wiring redone.

Not to sound like a tard I just saw a horsepower tv episode where they programmed a transmision. I thought it was a ford tranny but maybe not. I was not paying close attention as my daughter was screaming and running in front of the tv! God sometimes I wish I would have got fixed!
